🐾Arc is ready for his new forever home🐾

While his name is Arc his foster mom calls him Arc Angel because everyone needs a little Angel in their life.

Arc has been loved all of his life and it shows. He is a very sweet 10-year-old sheltie X. He has done well in his foster home with other dogs. He LOVES daily walks and can walk with a pack of 3 others easily. He really likes going to the private off leash parks where he can walk around and explore at his own pace. Arc can be dog reactive in certain situations outside his safe places so going to pet friendly stores are not in his best interest.

He sometimes sleeps on the bed but if there is a crate in the room, he might choose that instead.

Arc is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date with his vaccines. He has a heart murmur so to be safe we had an echocardiogram done. We were happy to hear that while he has very early degenerative valve disease, it is trivial and considered innocent. No medications are required and he is completely asymptomatic.

Arc at a glance:

10 year old, neutered, microchipped sheltie X
Reliable housetrained
Sweet, affectionate and LOVES back rubs
Would do best in a home where someone is at home most of the time
Needs a fully fenced, secure backyard
Was around children but we think he would be better in a home with no children under 12
As per the cardiologist, it is important Arc is on a grain-containing diet.

Arc is fostered in the Edmonton area. His adoption fee will be $250.00.

Please note: Only families whose applications match Arc’s needs and criteria will be contacted and we only facilitate adoptions within Alberta. If you believe you may be the right fit for Arc we encourage you to submit an application.

We are happy to send out our online application form if you have a gmail account. Otherwise you can find our application form at https://www.albertasheltierescue.ca/AdoptionProcess.htm

Some of you might remember Tudy. She is a sweet little girl that found her forever home earlier this year. She has made tremendous strides - she is still nervous but goes on her daily walks and loves them. Tudy loves her backyard and all the squeaky toys she can find.

**W***y Update**

Many of you have already met sweet W***y. This handsome nine-year-old boy has been settling into foster care so well.

When W***y arrived, he was carrying some extra weight, so our first mission was helping him get back to his boyish figure. We are so happy to share that he has already lost 5 pounds and is doing wonderfully! He is more active, more mobile, and clearly feeling better.

W***y does have some medical issues that we are continuing to address, and we have recently discovered he is experiencing what are likely focal seizures. He is starting medication in hopes of reducing or eliminating these episodes, and we will keep everyone updated on his progress.

We appreciate the veterinary team at Ellerslie Pet Hospital for their care and compassion.

Through it all, W***y remains the sweetest little gentleman and continues to amaze us every day. Please keep this special boy in your thoughts as he continues his journey. ❤️

Sweet little Dutchess had her spay at Airdrie Animal Health Centre today and she is doing well. She was given the gold standard treatment and is at home healing.

We will provide updates on her recovery.

When we have an emergency with our pets, we go to a vet.

They are our lifeline to helping us ensure the safety, comfort and health of our pets. The difficult decisions, the supporting of clients through one of the worst losses of their lives as well as providing advocacy for those who don’t have a voice all weigh heavy on our veterinarians and their team. But when a vet has an emergency, who do they turn to? Far too many veterinarians suffer in silence. Not One More Vet.

Recently, we lost an incredible local veterinarian. Someone who would go above and beyond for her clients. Someone who helped our rescue when we needed it through donations and support through fostering. Her name was Dr. Erin.

We are deeply saddened by her sudden loss as well as the hole that is left at her clinic. Our thoughts are with her friends, family, clients and colleagues at this time 🩵 Your legacy will live on.

Not One More Vet is an organization that is dedicated to transforming the status of mental wellness within the veterinary profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive through education, resources, and support.

If you are struggling, regardless if you are a veterinarian or not, please know that you matter. Please know that there is help and support. Please know that you are loved.

Dutchess - the princess - had her spa day today. Thanks to The New Emerald Pet Grooming for taking the extra time to help her through this very stressful process. She is very shy so getting photos is hard. She will get spayed next week and then we will make a plan for this sweet girl.

Willie had a little adventure this week!

Our sweet foster boy, Willie, had some unusual head and body movements that had his foster mom concerned. She did exactly the right thing and took him in to VCA Canada Guardian Veterinary Centre to get checked out.

Of course, by the time Willie arrived, he was back to his normal, happy self—classic timing! 😅 The vet gave him a thorough evaluation, but nothing conclusive could be diagnosed. For now, we’ll be keeping a close eye on him to see if anything like this happens again.

The good news: Willie is doing great and back to feeling like himself! 🐾

We’re so grateful for attentive fosters and supportive veterinary care. Stay tuned for more updates on this handsome boy!

Dutchess finally got her vet visit today with Airdrie Animal Health Centre. She is very nervous and anxious but was a champ for her exam. We have a plan for her - which includes a spa day - and she will get her spay later this month.
