Off leash and exploring the woods is one of our favourite things, especially when it sparkles āœØā„ļøā˜€ļøšŸŒ²šŸ¾

Winters in Nova Scotia be long and cold - I get it, I spend most of the day outside 🄶 We try to find the bright parts of the days and to be thankful for the sunshine, crisp and fresh air, and optimize on the less travelled trails and area. Fresh snow fall means easy tracking of company in the woods.. iykyk šŸ‘£ 🐾

Nothing brings a smile to my face faster than the simple joy of dogs playing in fresh snow having the best time 🄹

We’re now booking Spring B&T programs! 🌷

Are you wanting to do ALL THE THINGS this summer with your dog but struggling with not only walking them on leash, but lacking reliable off leash recall? Or maybe your dog has some unruly/unsafe behaviours and lacks manners in public and you don’t know where to start? Don’t worry, you’re not alone and we can help!

Let’s talk, set clear goals and formulate a program that helps get you to a place of confidence and enjoyment with your dog! 🐾

Our various Board and Train Programs are great to consider when :
• you and your dog both need and would benefit from a healthy ā€œbreak and resetā€
• you’ve tried other options and are still struggling with certain behaviours
• you have a trip booked and are already needing to book boarding for your dog while you’re away
• you want the foundations laid out and done by a trainer so you can pick up the reins and continue on with clear understanding and a plan with private lessons
• your dog needs to work on socializing skills either other dogs
• you’ve got more complex behavioural issues going on with your dog (generalized or intense reactivity, high anxiety, fearful tendencies, etc)
• you just want them to get trained correctly from the start so you can maintain and focus on upholding their new skills
• and of course there are many other reasons (like, they’re awesome 🤩)

We have 1 spot left for February, limited spaces for March and now booking April and May > Book a FREE consultation call here : ā¬‡ļø šŸ“ž

Look familiar? We can help ā¬‡ļø

We deal with A LOT of dogs with reactivity - and I say it that way instead of ā€œreactive dogsā€ because I don’t like to define them as only that. The things is, a lot of reactivity stems from a baseline issue. ā€œTrainingā€ for it doesn’t start on the walk - It’s begins with sense of clarity and focus, relaying a new foundation, having a calmer and stronger mindset, building confidence and intention, finding outlets and fulfillment, and many ā€œminiā€ moments of consistency.

We LOVE helping owners with this whether it be through board and trains programs or private lessons. All you have to do is take the initiative, book the call to start gathering information and options to consider if it’s the right fit for you and your dog. Then, you need a commit to starting - we help with the rest šŸ«¶šŸ»

ā€œI can’t afford to feed my dog fresh or rawā€ .. ā¬‡ļø

I hear this so often and I get it - life is so expensive these days. But, I ask ā€œdo you use a compost bin?ā€ and yes is often the answer.. then I say ā€œperfect, a lot of the scraps your throwing out can go right to your dog!ā€ šŸ˜Ž

It doesn’t have to be fancy, aesthetic or expensive because you likely already have it in your fridge and pantry OR you’re literally throwing it away!! šŸ’ø

Here’s a list of a few things I give my dogs that don’t break the bank and add fresh and variety to their diet :
- veggie and fruit cut offs (avoid seeds but things like pepper bottoms, broccoli stalk, apple pieces, ā€œgone badā€ spinach, berries, etc are great additives)
- meat or fish trimmings / skin / organs
- steel cut oats, quinoa, sweet potatoe, pysllium husk
- plain greek yogurt, kefir milk, cottage cheese
- sardines or mussels in water
- eggs (in various forms)
- coconut oil, broth
- sauerkraut, fermented veggies

Oh, and his best friend is Bucca✨info belowā¬‡ļø

Name : Chappy
DOB : April 9, 2021
Details : Male, neutered, healthy.
Breed : Australian Shepherd
Diet : raw/Inukshuk Marine 16
Personality: smart, sensitive, sweet, goofy, playful, loveable, adventure partner, travel buddy, couch cuddler.

Ideal home : no young kids, single or couple home, fenced yard/home with space. Will not be going into a building or shared living space. Potential owners must be committed to a proper trial period and following the advice/structure for him, including ecollar and muzzle training.

Experienced ownership preferred for his best success.
Ecollar, muzzle and crate trained.
Good with people, especially with proper introductions.
Good with dogs - pretty neutral and doesn’t love space pushed. Had been around many dogs of sizes and personalities daily since coming to me in July for foster/rehome. Does do better with initial greetings with dogs muzzled and is comfortable wearing it in long hikes et. He comes with a Muzzle Movement muzzle and Baskerville muzzle for options as well as an Ecollar Technologies ecollar kit.

New owners have training for life with me with access to lessons for transition and classes.
He will be able to board here, with me, whenever needed.

I’ve known Chappy for a few years now, and I know his entire history. I have had him staying with me as a foster-train since the summer after a change in his household. I am being very particular about where he goes so it’s forever and best for him and his new family, and that’s the biggest reason he’s still with me. He deserves a great home who will make his needs and life a priority while enjoying the new friendship, he’s a great guy ā˜ŗļø

I would love for Chappy to find his new home to be able to have a fresh start in 2026.
If you’re seriously interested in this sweet guy joining our home, please DM me or email me at [email protected].
Please share this post to help him find find his new home🐾 🩵

This was a BIG one for Hershey. ā¬‡ļø ā¬‡ļø ā¬‡ļø

Yes, this is a long reel, but I wanted to post it because it’s truly mind blowing that he’s come this far in this short amount of time. So, if you watch the entire thing, you’ll see his payout at the end ✨

Hershey arrived 4 weeks ago for his Behaviour Modification B&T and to say he’s changed is an understatement..

His b&t was focused on building resilience. A fundamental skill that too many dogs lack. Sure, he was reactive on leash, pulled the arm right off you, extreme demanding behaviours and the list goes on .. but there was a baseline issue screaming at me.

We started off with struggling to get a leash on and off, then his ecollar on and off, then clasping his muzzle, then being handled by others to get gear on and off, paw handling without muzzle on, and now we’ve made it to nail trimming, being off leash with other dogs, and near perfect leash manners.

Hershey had a 3 bite history of essentially stress overload and zero tolerance to handle things. He rejected touch other than just affection, and even then it was limited. Any inanimate objects going near him would be an air snap at the least. His bites were advocation to ā€œget out of my spaceā€ which isn’t necessarily ill intent, but it still hurts physically and mentally to receive those and him being so stressed so easily sucked.

We’ve been adding appropriate stress into his life though training and consistency so that the uncontrollable/life/natural/environmental stresses would be less and he and his people can enjoy life together more. You need to be able to handle, care for, and treat your dogs - it’s a baseline requirement for proper health care and safety. Not being able to treat a hot spot, check for ticks etc is extremely limiting and living around an issue that I believe can be taught.

Hershey goes home next week and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He’s truly happier and less stressed over all which means a better life. These are the reasons I believe in ā€œbalanced trainingā€, tools or motivators aside. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows - preparing your dog for it is the responsible thing to do. Xo

Why having a ā€œtrainer dogā€ matters ā¬‡ļø

Bucca’s ā€œjobā€ on the clock with HalliDog is to play, listen, heel on leash and off, hold obedience asks, run around with other dogs and people, and, most importantly, lead by example. It’s so invaluable to have a dog that I can trust and use amongst training dogs. Dogs often mirror each other so healthy pack dynamics and social exposure for teaching is imo critical for dogs to truly get it. šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼
[also why I LOVE b&t and day trains programs]

These guys sometimes go under the radar because ā€œthey’re so good, it must be niceā€, but the reality is we put time, effort and so much back into this relationship to be able to do all of this with them by our side. šŸ’ž

Bucca was a gived-up-on dog by someone else and it absolutely blows my mind; he’s so incredibly special. I am forever grateful that he came into my life when he did - we’ve only gone upwards together since finding each other. ✨
