What a week celebrating Urban Ag thanks to Toronto Urban Growers ()! The highlight was definitely visiting the beautiful green roof farm at in Regent Park. Seriously, this place is special!

đŸ€·â€â™€ïžWhy? Because it’s not any garden green roof; this is a working community garden, which is incredibly rare (and cool!) for Toronto. It’s run by the brilliant team at Green Thumbs Growing Kids (), who sell the food grown back to the community and teach kids how to grow regeneratively. đŸŒ±

Naturally, I showed up with the goods! We provided 50kg of Probiotics for Plants Worm Manure to inoculate their soil with microbes. Consider this the rooftop’s organic power-up! I’m stoked to play a small part in how they steward their soil.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to the one and only Sunday Harrison (), a true powerhouse leader in Toronto’s urban ag scene. And shout-out to Joe Durand (), the coolest compost/soil geek, and true Wastenot believer. Thanks for being such a champion for good dirt, Joe and Sunday! ❀

Rooftop garden soil needs special care and my Worm Manure is low-volume, high value solution ideal for these difficult environments. Drop a line if you work with a rooftop garden that could use a đŸ’„Probiotics power-boost!đŸ’„

Haven’t started a compost pile yet? Your banana peels are getting impatient. 🍌

At Wastenot Farms, we don’t let good rot go to waste. We give food scraps a second life with a lineup of composting methods that feed the soil, and the planet.

Here’s our rot-and-roll crewđŸ€˜:

đŸȘ±Vermicomposting: Red wiggler worms turn scraps into castings (aka worm poop) full of nutrients and microbial magic.

đŸ”„Thermophilic Composting: High heat (130–160°F) breaks down waste fast and zaps weed seeds, perfect for big batches.

😎Mesophilic Composting: The chill, low-temp method for slow, small-batch breakdown with minimal effort.

đŸ•°ïžJohnson-Su Bioreactor: The “set it and forget it” method, waste sits for 9–12 months and transforms into fungi-rich compost.

đŸ„’Bokashi Composting: This ancient, anaerobic technique uses Effective Microorganisms (EM) in a sealed pail to ferment food waste, creating a pickled end-product full of healthy soil potential.

Each method helps fuel the Soil Food Web, that underground network of microbes, fungi, and insects that keeps your garden thriving and chemical-free.

🍂 Leave Your Leaves Alone! 🍂

As fall settles in and leaves start to blanket the ground, consider letting them stay right where they are.

Leaf litter isn’t just a seasonal nuisance, it’s nature’s mulch. It protects the soil, locks in moisture, and slowly breaks down to feed essential microbes and fungi underground. These tiny organisms play a huge role in building healthy, living soil that supports everything growing above it.

Want to take it a step further? Pair your fallen leaves with a low-growing cover crop. Together, they create a living mulch that supports soil life all year long. My Living Mulch Cover Crop Kit is designed for exactly that, helping you build a thriving, low-maintenance ecosystem in your garden.

Let the ground breathe, feed the soil, and let Mother Nature do her thing! đŸŒŹïž

💬 What do you do with your fall leaves?
Drop a comment below and let me know, do you compost them, let them be, or maybe even jump in them?

I’m excited to share these pics from our recent shoot with the Dufferin Board of Trade, captured in the most down-to-earth setting possible: the worm farm!đŸȘ±

This wasn’t your typical headshot session! 📾Surrounded by nature’s quiet buzz, it was the perfect way to showcase my amazing team! Real, grounded, and rooted in purpose.

♄We’re so proud to be part of a network that celebrates business, collaboration, and authenticity. Huge thanks to Jaemilyn and for their support on a fresh (and very local!) twist to our professional branding.

Who says headshots need four walls and a ring light? Tell us, where would your dream portrait session take place?

Today is the International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste, and I’m shining a light on a messy truth: around 1/3 of all food goes to waste, while our soil, climate, and communities pay the price.

At Wastenot Farms, I believe every carrot top, coffee ground, and crumb has potential. Regenerative agriculture starts before the farm and goes way beyond the plate. Less waste = healthy plants, healthy people, and a healthy planet. ❀

This belief is a key ingredient in all my Jocelyn’s Soil Booster products because turning overlooked scraps into something that nourishes the soil is critical for our future.

Let’s rethink what we throw away. Because waste isn’t just waste, it’s a missed opportunity.

So open your fridge or pantry. What’s one ingredient you almost forgot about that could still be turned into something delicious or useful? 👇Drop it in the comments!

From a first bag of Worm ManuređŸȘ±, to our latest Living Potting Soil and Lawn Lover products, I’m beyond grateful for all you Soil Booster customers growing gardens the greener way!

Here’s the truth: without your commitment, I couldn’t continue creating regenerative growing tools.

Every bag packed & every batch mixed is driven by one mission: to build soil, not strip it.

BUT none of this works without you!đŸ«”

So thanks! ❀ Thanks for choosing better soil. For growing regeneratively. For giving a sh*t (and putting it back into the ground, where it belongs).

Most importantly, thank you for sharing your awesome reviews so that others know just how good it feels to grow healthy plants, healthy people, and a healthy planet, one scoop at a time.

Wanna’ know when to water well? 💧 Before the cold spell!

Moist soil acts like a thermal blanket. It holds warmth better, to slow down deep freezing, and protect roots from cold shock. Microbial life needs moist soil to be alive and active, therefore watering supports healthier soil structure and nutrient turnover through the winter.

Want to give your soil a little extra love while protecting plants through the first frost? Sprinkle on a handful of my Worm Manure đŸȘ± to protect and nourish the soil.

Don’t let your garden go to bed thirsty, water now while the ground can still soak it up. Your spring plants will thank you with stronger roots and healthier growth. đŸŒ±

Already gave your garden a good soak? Or still holding onto that hose? Tell us below, have you done your final fall watering yet?

Behind the scenes “in the lab!” đŸ§Ș We’re kicking off a research trial that explores how traditional thermophilic compost (the cheap stuff in the big bags) can be improved through inoculation with worm manure extract to supercharge soil on a massive scale! đŸȘ±âœš

Why worm extract? (aka. worm tea) It’s packed with beneficial microbes that create a healthy microbiome to:
⭐Improve soil health

⭐Boost nutrient uptake

⭐Enhance moisture retention

⭐Support plant resilience

We’re tracking microbial activity and nutrient levels to evaluate how these tiny organisms can make a big impact. This trial - the first step in our work with at - will quantify benefits and empower large scale landscapers to use more productive, sustainable growing practices.

Huge thanks to for leading the scientific charge, on her birthday no less! 🎉 Her dedication is laying the groundwork for exciting things ahead.

👉Swipe to see the process, and let us know in the comments: Have you tried compost inoculation? We’d love to hear about it!

Stay tuned for results and tips on using inoculated compost in your own garden!

Fall isn’t the end of the growing season, it’s the beginning of something new. 🍂✹

It’s said the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago... with the second best time being now! Cooler temperatures and consistent rains make now the perfect time to plant trees and perennials. Roots will grow well without the stress of summer heat, and by spring, they’re ready to thrive. đŸŒ±

Want to give these transplants a serious head start? Add a sprinkle of Worm Manure! đŸȘ±đŸ’Ș It’s packed with nutrients and beneficial microbes, basically a fall superfood for your soil. It helps improve soil structure, boosts water retention, and delivers slow-release nutrients that support a strong root development, right when young trees need it most.

Whether you’re planting now or prepping for next season, fall is the time to dig deep and plant smart.

Got plans for your garden this autumn? Drop them below, I’d love to hear what you’re growing!

🍃Is your soil feeling naked now that we’re late in the season? Help cover it up with a cover crop! When soil sits bare, it loses nutrients, structure, and biology critical for healthy ecosystems. Cover crops change this, as they blanket, build, and boost your soil so you can kick back for the off-season. 😌 Here’s why I love using cover crops in my garden:
✅Provides protection from erosion/harsh weather
✅Feed soil with organic matter
✅Rebuilds soil biology from the roots up
✅Helps to capture carbon and fight climate change
This is one of the simplest, most powerful regenerative techniques available! Our Jocelyn’s Soil Booster Cover Crop Kit has got you covered and makes it easy to get started!
