Last week, Bailey, Romi, Rumi, and Cash all graduated from Puppy’s Perfect Start, and Nigel, Ruby, and Wookie graduated from Mind Your Manners!

Yesterday Sandy reminded me of something important.

She didn’t get enough activity or enrichment, and I accidentally left the linen closet open. A little while later, she proudly turned a toilet paper roll into her own DIY activity 😂

Was it her fault? No — it was mine.

Dogs don’t do these things to be “bad.” They do them because they have needs, and if we don’t meet those needs, they’ll often find their own ways to meet them.

If I don’t want this to happen again, the answer isn’t punishment. The answer is better management from me — keeping things I don’t want her getting into out of reach, and making sure she has more appropriate things she can chew, shred, explore, and enjoy.

And honestly, my favourite photo is the last one — the smile. That’s a dog who feels safe. A dog who isn’t afraid to make mistakes because she knows she won’t be punished for them ❤️

Meet Nigel — our most attentive class participant. 😂🐾

He loves sitting on the chair like he’s part of the group discussion, watching everything I say so carefully. I swear he looks like he’s taking mental notes the entire class.

Dogs have the funniest little personalities, and Nigel always makes me smile. ❤️

The Easter Bunny came… and honestly, 10/10 enrichment idea 🐰🥚

Lots of sniffing, thinking, and working for their rewards… followed by two very tired dogs 😂

Sometimes the simple stuff really is the best.

Spring classes are starting April 9th 🌸🐾

Our Puppy’s Perfect Start classes (for puppies under 6 months) are all about helping puppies feel confident in the world around them.

In class, we introduce things like different surfaces, tunnels, moving objects (yes… even skateboards 😄), and new environments in a safe, positive way—so puppies can learn that new doesn’t have to be scary.

Along with that, we work on real-life skills and give you the tools to prevent common challenges before they start.

Puppies enrolled in class also get access to our Tuesday puppy playtimes—structured social time to build great dog-to-dog skills.

Our Mind Your Manners Skills & Obedience class starts one week from today!

Perfect for dogs who need to brush up on their basics or learn some polite manners, this class covers all the essentials—plus problem-solving for common behaviours like jumping and mouthing and pulling on leash. (And yes, there’s Sunday afternoon free-play time included! 🐾)

Let’s give a big round of applause to Summer, Eddy, Maddy, Max, and Kobe for completing their Manners Class! These pups have mastered polite greetings, anti-jumping strategies, loose-leash walking, “drop it,” “leave it,” and more.

🐾 Teen Playtime Sundays at Play Unleashed! 🐶

Playtime isn’t just about running around — it’s about exploring, learning, and having fun. Watch our teen pups play hard, take sniff breaks, and practice real-life skills in a safe environment. We encourage natural behaviors like investigating and resting to prevent overstimulation and help build confident, happy dogs. 🌟

We also reward pups for checking in with us during play, which strengthens recall and keeps playtime safe and fun. 💬🐕

✨ Two energy levels to choose from:
• High-energy play for the zoomies crew ⚡
• Lower-energy play for the mellow pups 🌿

📍 Where & When: Play Unleashed | Sundays
🐶 Who: Ages 6 months–2 years
✅ Requirements: Dogs must have completed a basic manners class with a certified trainer who uses kind, science-based methods
🎁 Bonus: If you’re currently in a group class with us, playtimes are FREE!

🌳 New Class Alert: Beyond Basics 🐾

Ready to take your dog’s training into the real world? Beyond Basics is a 4-week outdoor class designed for dogs (5 months and older) who’ve already completed a puppy or manners course.

We'll help your dog strengthen leash walking, recall, polite greetings, and calm behaviour—all while navigating real-life distractions like dogs, people, and new environments. Each class is held in a different NW Calgary park to boost your dog’s ability to generalize their skills!

🗓 Starts Thursday, May 1
🕠 Thursdays at 5:30 pm
📍 Held at various NW Calgary parks
💲$160 for 4 weekly sessions

🐶 Teen Playtime at Play Unleashed! 🐾
New location, same great fun—now with even more to explore! Our Teen Playtime is happening at Play Unleashed on Sunday afternoons, giving your energetic pup the perfect space to socialize, play, and even try out some agility equipment! 🐕✨

🐾 Sunday, February 16 – 5:00 PM (or 4:00 PM for smaller or very gentle players)
