Ghee came into our care on September 30, 2023 and he’s been waiting patiently ever since.

When he first arrived, Ghee needed time to feel safe around people. With the help of his loving foster home, he’s grown into a sweet, gentle boy who now enjoys affection, the company of other cats, and quiet, cozy spaces.

While the tiniest kittens often get adopted quickly, cats like Ghee, just as loving, just as deserving, are often passed by.

We don’t know why he’s still waiting. But we do know he’s ready to give his whole heart to the right person.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider giving this long-time resident the home he’s been waiting so long for.

Black cats are often overlooked in shelters. Not because they’re less loving, less playful, or less deserving. Just because of the colour of their fur.

That’s it. That’s the reason.

These beautiful cats are sweet, curious, cuddly, playful, and full of love to give. But they’re still waiting. Some for months. Some for years.

They don’t photograph as easily. They blend into shadows. And for some, there’s still superstition attached to their sleek black coats.

But we see their magic. We know the joy they bring.
And we want you to see it too.

If you’ve ever thought about adopting, consider choosing the cat who’s been overlooked. You might just find your perfect match in a little black shadow with a huge heart. 🖤

You can now donate your returnables to Sammy’s Forgotten Felines at General Grants Bottle Depot (1395 Battle Street)!

🇨🇦 Canada Day Reminder 🇨🇦
Fireworks might be fun for us, but they can be scary for our cats. Please keep them safely indoors tonight and make sure windows and doors are secure.

Loud noises and bright flashes can cause cats to panic or run. Let’s keep them safe and sound this Canada Day. 🐾❤️

Sammy’s Forgetten Felines

Sammy’s feral cat colony is located just outside of Kamloops. This colony has existed for the last 15 years and although several organizations have tried to rescue these cats, they have never managed to get every cat and the colony inevitably grows again. In 2015, one organization pulled 100+ cats from this property.

In the fall and winter of 2019, we decided enough was enough. We are a small group of women experienced in animal welfare and have managed to trap 68 cats to date and will not stop until we get the remaining 8 to 10 and put an end to this cycle. We have had the privilege of working with Kamloops Ruff Start Rescue, the Lower Mainland Humane Society, Embrace a Discarded Animal Society, Katie’s Place, Shuswap Paws Rescue Society, Critteraid, RAPS Cat Sancutary, C.A.R.E.S. Canadian Animal Rescue and Extended Shelter, Tranquille Road Animal Hospital, and The Visiting Vet who have helped us with trapping, veterinary costs, and have found homes for these cats.

We started this page to help with fundraising. We currently have 8 cats in foster homes and some require medical treatment. There are still 8 to 10 cats at the property that will need to be spayed or neutered and treated for any medical issues.

Thank you for your support,
