The dedication and care that goes into raising these life-changing dogs is truly inspiring. Did you know it costs approximately $35,000 to train each dog, and they’re provided FREE to those in need? The world lost a legend on January 4, 2025. Karen Pryor, author of “Don’t Shoot the Dog” and pioneer of positive reinforcement training, passed away on January 4th.

Karen’s impact on the animal training world is immeasurable. She introduced clicker training to dog owners in the late 80s and 90s, revolutionizing how we interact with our canine companions. Her vision led to the creation of ClickerExpo, an annual conference that brings together the brightest minds in animal training.

Karen also founded Karen Pryor Academy, where our founder, Andre Yeu ( ), and most of our instructors honed their skills. Without Karen’s work, When Hounds Fly wouldn’t exist. Her legacy lives on in the positive impact we have on dogs and their people in Toronto and beyond.

Thank you, Karen, for changing the way we understand and connect with animals.
