Dog training is not just about getting your dog to behave a certain way, but it is also a way to bond and have fun with your dog - My method of training is motivational and based on positive reinforcement, using treats, praise and reward - if food treats are used as the reward, weaning of the treats is an important part of the program. 1- Private in

-home coaching sessions: I help coach you how to manage problem behaviours and help you teach your dog manners in the comfort of your own home, around your schedule.

2-Seasonal Group Obedience Classes: Group Classes are offered through The Dog Gym. Contact them to register for classes. If you have any questions or concerns about your dog and his/her training and/or behaviour, feel free to contact me via email, text, call, or message. I am fluent in both French and English, so please feel free to speak in the language you feel most comfortable with

Today is National Pet Bird day. We always see pictures of dogs and cats, do any of you have pet birds??

Aurora, do you remember the first cockatiel we had? This bird was AWESOME!

I'd have a bird again, but I think Foxy would probably try to eat it every chance she had! 🤷‍♀️

Dog training is such a diverse profession in that there is no one method and no governing agency that says what is right or wrong. Some swear by punishment and corrective collars (i.e choke, prong, halti), some don't.

What people must keep in mind is that dog training needs to be, not only safe and comfortable for the person, but also for the dog. If you're not comfortable with the methods used by your trainer, whether with your dog or with others' dogs, then search for a different trainer. If your dog is stressed and not enjoying the training, then they're not learning, they're simply shutting down. A trainer that uses positive methods will pick up on those discomforts and work to make changes to relieve that stress...not force the dog to deal with it and punish them until they surrender.

Here at Pawsitive Gems, we use positive reinforcement and games to work with our dogs. We want to build confidence and trust between you and your dog!

I am sharing this letter that was released by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists because I have seen the training videos; I have seen the discomfort and stress exhibited by the dogs; I have felt uncomfortable and upset with some of the videos. I think it is important to remember that training is a process that takes time and quick fixes are usually just a bandaid that will eventually fall off to possibly reveal a much more severe issue ❤️

Do your research before hiring a trainer and follow your heart! It is your fur baby we are talking about!
