I wanted to take a moment to share a few reminders about how we can work together to ensure the best possible hoof health for your horse.
1. Staying on Schedule = Healthy Hooves
Horses thrive on routine, and their hooves are no exception. Regular trims. Typically every 6 weeks in our environment are essential for preventing imbalance, flaring, cracking, and other issues that can affect soundness and comfort. Delaying or stretching appointments can have a significant negative impact, even if it’s only by a couple of weeks.
2. Loyalty to One Farrier is Key
While it's understandable to seek help when scheduling conflicts arise, routinely switching between farriers can disrupt the long term care and strategy we've established. Each farrier has their own style and approach, and frequent changes can confuse a horse's hoof balance and undo progress. Consistency in care allows me to better track your horse’s needs and make proactive, informed decisions.
3. Communication is Crucial
If your horse is showing any signs of discomfort, changes in movement, or if your schedule changes, I truly appreciate open and timely communication. The more I know, the better I can support you and your horse. I’m always happy to answer questions, provide education, or adjust plans when life gets busy as long as we’re in touch.
Thank you for trusting me with your horse’s hoof care. My top priority is their long term well being and soundness, and working together with consistency and communication is the best way to achieve that.
