Happy tails, Bruno! ❤️

Bruno joined us after being found collapsed on the side of the road just outside of Barrie. (You can read Bruno’s welcome post here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18oZXLkfNS/?mibextid=wwXIfr)

Initially, he was being boarded at Nordik K9 through connections with the person who found him. Eventually, he moved into a foster home (another first-time foster! 🎉), where he was able to decompress, settle in, and put on some much-needed weight.

While in foster care, we made sure Bruno had weekly weigh-ins to ensure he was on the right track, and he even got a much-needed spa day! And then, while in foster, he found his forever home — with a friend of the owner of Nordik K9❤️

The first photo is of Bruno with his foster mom and his new adoptive mom 🥹 He is so unbelievably loved.

Now that everything is official, Bruno has headed off to his forever home! Nordik K9 has been such an instrumental part of Bruno’s journey, and to make things even sweeter, they generously sponsored part of his adoption fee.

We’re so happy we could be a part of Bruno’s journey to healing, health, and a happy forever home.

Happy Tails, Fergus (now Vinny)! ❤️

Fergus has officially found his forever family — and they’ve just made it official! ✨ He’s now known as Vinny, and honestly… Vinny and Tito has such a nice ring to it 💛

Fergus came to us a few months ago from an Ontario shelter. He settled into a wonderful foster home (first-time foster, weoo! 🎉) where he had the chance to decompress, build confidence, and learn so many new skills to help prepare him for life in his forever home.

His adopters were persistent from the very beginning — reaching out about Fergus early on, being among the first to submit an application, and consistently showing their dedication and commitment throughout the process. We’re so glad everything worked out the way it was meant to, and that Fergus has now found the loving home he deserves ❤️

We’ve had many applicants recently who either stop responding, cancel partway through the approval process, or ghost us entirely. Please remember that there are volunteers taking the time to carefully review applications and connect with potential adopters. If the timing isn’t right or you’re unsure about adopting, we kindly ask that you make that decision before applying — or at the very least, communicate openly with our coordinators ❤️

Welcome, Mama June and her babies—The Omemee Torts! 🐈🌸

On the Friday of the May 24 long weekend, we welcomed June and her four little ones into our care. With the help of one of our longtime volunteer, Melissa Hassan, three young moms and their litters were safely brought in from a community in Omemee. One family joined us, while the others were welcomed by Mattie's Place and Rescued for the Role

These sweet cats are the unfortunate result of what happens when unfixed cats are abandoned in rural areas. Without intervention, populations grow quickly and become overwhelming for the community.
We were contacted by a kind resident who had been doing everything she could to help—providing food, building winter shelters, and even trying to rehome kittens. Despite her efforts, the situation grew beyond what one person could manage, and she reached out for support. We’re so grateful she did.

June is just a baby herself—likely from last year’s litter—and she’s now safe with her four beautiful kittens:
Leo • Grey male
Alfred • Black and white male
Mabel • Tortoiseshell female
Flora • White with tortoiseshell female

They are currently settling into a foster home, and we’ll be looking for additional fosters soon.

As always, our young kittens will stay with their mom until they are fully weaned and thriving. After that, they’ll move into foster homes—ideally with other pets, or adopted in pairs to ensure proper socialization and play.

If you’re interested in adopting, The Omemee Torts will be available in the coming months once they are spayed and neutered. The cycle stops here for this lucky little family. 💛

Fifteen years ago, two holistic nutritionists crossed paths… never knowing that one day their shared passion for health, wellness, and helping others would grow into such a beautiful friendship. 💛

Today, Kim and Cheryl spent the morning gathered around the kitchen table — flipping through well-loved cookbooks, sharing ideas, laughing between recipes, and carefully planning the nourishing meals for the upcoming Pause for Paws Wellness Retreat for Hanks Haven. 🥗✨🐾

Because to them, food is so much more than what’s on the plate. It’s comfort. Healing. Connection. Community.

What started as a friendship built on shared values has grown into something truly special — two women pouring their hearts into creating a meaningful experience that gives back to both people and rescue dogs alike.
