🚨 We Need Your Help – The Month of May Hit Us Hard 🚨
Hey friends — this is Kathy from Bear Valley Horse Rescue. I don’t usually reach out like this, but May has been a brutal month financially, and we could really use a hand.
Between unexpected medical cases, equipment repairs, and regular operational costs, we’ve had to cover $28,200 in critical expenses just this month — and that’s before feed.
Here’s what we’ve been facing:
$11,300 in vet bills — including treatments for Waylon, our little cryptorchid mini, and Nutmeg, our sweet orphan c**t. Each of them needed around $2,000 of specialized care.
$3,500 for diesel to keep everything running
$3,600 for skidsteer repairs (we can’t do much without it)
$3,500 for our farrier (Pat is here this week) – keeping our herd’s hooves healthy
$2,500 for our tipping table farrier who was here earlier in May (essential for the not-foot-broke horses)
$2,000 for vehicle/farm insurance
$1,800 for new tires for the dually – no skipping this with the terrain we cover
We do everything we can to stretch every dollar, but this month has pushed us to the limit.
🙏 If you’re able to chip in — even a small amount — it would mean the world to us and to the horses we care for. Every donation helps keep the lights on, the tanks full, and our animals healthy and safe.
