We are happy to introduce ourselves as the “Shaunavon Alley Cat Care and Relocation” group. Our goal is to help control the stray cat population in Shaunavon by relocating (and treating if necessary) strays that are causing a nuisance and don’t have the best quality of life. By doing this, we hope to lower the population of stray and feral cats, to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases, and letting them live out better lives. Allow us to introduce the committee members:
o Chairperson – Sandy Rapley
o Treasurer – Melodie Berreth
o Communications/Secretary: Tony Morrison
o Town of Shaunavon Liasson’s: Bylaw Officer Bonnie Lingenfelter & Communications Officer Anna Morin
o Community members at large

**Currently we are looking for fosters/farm homes for trapped stray cats. Contact [email protected] if you would like to be on our list to help be a part of the solutions
“S.A.C.C.A.R” will be accepting donations and beginning to fundraise to assist with veterinary costs to treat stray cats prior to relocating to furever homes.
If you’d like to be a part of the solution, we invite anyone from the public to join our next meeting:

Welcome to the newly formed “Shaunavon Alley Cat Care and Relocation” group. Our goal is to help control the stray cat population in Shaunavon by treating and relocating strays that are causing a nuisance, and don’t have the best quality of life. By doing this, we hope to lower the population of feral cats, leading to the reduction of transmission of infectious diseases, and eliminating stray cat nuisance within Shaunavon, and letting them live out better lives.

To date, we have had a pilot meeting with various members of the community to discuss the issues with the cat population, and try to develop a program that benefits the community as a whole.

Our first step we’ve identified is to create a list of contacts (i.e. farms or homes) who would like to be on a list to take in a cat that has been found and treated, so that they may have a home.

Whether that be as a barn cat or to be a pet, we strongly encourage anyone interested to come forward and we would be happy to connect with you!

We welcome community members who would like to learn more about the program to join us on Monday May 6th, 2024 at 6:30pm at Conway’s Restaurant. Whether you’d like to join our small “committee” or just ask questions, feel free to come by! All are welcome!

Our end goal is to give these animals some nice homes, while keeping our town safe, clean and healthy.

We hope to see you there – please share this page with those you think would like to join in or learn more. Thank you!
