We are moving out of our location on Queen St E, but we are still in business! We will still be able to host parties and, as always, we can still come to your party or event. However, we are on the hunt for a new permanent location.

Here's what we're looking for:
Approximately 1500 sq feet (give or take)
Temperature controlled
Plumbing
Animal friendly

That's it! Please let us know if you know somewhere that would be a good fit. Also, keep an eye out for some exciting events we will be attending with our reptile displays! And don't forget, we also do school visits!

Meet Brenda! Brenda is a 15 year old Red Eared Slider turtle who came to us from the . Red eared sliders (RES) are extremely common as pets and are the most surrendered turtle species to rescues. In addition to absolutely flooding rescues, the RES has also become an invasive species in Ontario. This is one of the reasons we strongly, STRONGLY advise doing research on reptiles as pets. Believe it or not, Brenda is still a young turtle! They can live far past 40 years old. Not only are turtles commonly surrendered and under-researched as pets, but they also have significant care requirements. In these photos, you can see Brenda when she first came to us a month ago (she's wet so harder to see). Due to improper lighting and care, Brenda's shell (or carapace - our campers will know this) has years of built up retained "scutes". Those plate-like sections of Brenda's shell are her scutes and turtles will shed these just like other reptiles shed their skin. Brenda is enjoying her regular brushing sessions to work away this build up, but it will take awhile to get her where she should be. The photo at the end shows what a typical RES carapace should look like.

If you'd like to donate to Brenda's ongoing care or that of any of our other rescue reptiles, please check out our Amazon wishlist in the link in our bio! We also accept donations of new or used items, gift cards to pet stores, or e-transfers!

Sensational Snakes day finished out our week of camp! We learned about types of snakes, we learned about diurnal vs nocturnal snakes (and how that affects their behaviour and how their scales might feel), we learned about front vs rear fanged venomous snakes, and so much more. Everyone got to meet a male and female snake of the same species to see the differences, hold a sizeable snake, and meet and pet a completely different species to compare how their scales felt. I love seeing what everyone comes up with for their craft! Some really focused on camouflage, which is a snake's first line of defence. We also learned about other ways snakes defend themselves if they're scared or threatened. We will definitely be doing camp again for March Break so stay tuned!

Day 2 of camp is a wrap! Today was Lovely Lizards and we got to meet multiple lizards including a leopard gecko, bearded dragon, and a tegu! We learned about where they live, what time of day they're active, how they defend themselves, and how that changes the way they look and feel. We also fed a Savannah monitor! Our morning craft was supervised by Humphrey, of course. Sensational Snakes day tomorrow!
