Hi Everyone!

We are so excited about the upcoming classes!!!
It seems that a lot of other people are as well. Some of the classes have filled to capacity. Our main goal is that each and every one feel that the class was a success and that you end the 6 weeks a stronger, happier team than when you started.
With this in mind, we only accept a specific number of registrations for each class.
We are having to open up more class times for some of the classes to accommodate everyone that is interested.
If you haven’t already done so, please forward payment within 48 hours to hold your spot. You will be guaranteed the time and class you requested once payment is received.

As always, if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to get in touch at any time!!

We are very much looking forward to meeting all of you and your dogs!!

Thank you again for using Dogs Unleashed to help you accomplish the goals you have set out for yourself and your best friend.

This is Tohr. When Tohr began his life with Joanne he was a very timid and reactive shepherd. Joanne has worked miracles with this very big boy. He spent the weekend earning 2 legs towards his Rally Obedience Novice title. He did this with very good scores and exceeded everyone's expectations. Congratulations to Joanne and Tohr. A job well done.

Poet is the first graduate of Dogs Unleashed to earn an obedience title. Poet went through the beginner obedience class and did so well that we recommended he be entered in a trial. Although he is just over a year old, his owners, Stephanie and Mark, agreed and he was entered in Rally O Novice at the Crocus Obedience Show in Brandon Manitoba.
The sights and sounds of a dog show with 200+ dogs was a lot for Poet to absorb. He adjusted quickly and did very well. He earned his Rally Novice title with 2 firsts and 1 second.
We're very proud of Poet and his accomplishments.

Melanie has spent quite a bit of time running around the training building, increasing her comfort level with any and all dogs.
At 5 years old she entered the Junior Handling Ring at the Crocus Kennel & Obedience Club for the very first time. The dog she wanted to handle was Pink, owned by Kelsey Kaban. Pink is just a tad bigger than Melanie, but that wasn't an issue. The pair earned a Blue Ribbon. Congrats to Dogs Unleashed's small but mighty team.

TRAINING "FOOD" FOR THOUGHT.

How important are the treats you use while at dog class?
Imagine you take your child to the park. Amongst all the other children, rather than going to play you want your child to stay with you and work on math.
You tell your child each time he gets the answer right you will give him a treat. The choice of treat is either a piece of carrot or a piece of kit kat.
Of the 2 options, which do you think is more likely to motivate your child to ignore what is going on around him and focus on you in order to get that treat?
The goal in training is to work towards not always needing a treat, however to be fair to your dog you need to ensure the skill is solid in their mind first.
When your 3 year old is able to add 2 plus 2 you get excited and clap. When your 16 year old adds 2 plus 2 chances are they don't get the same reaction because you know that is a skill that is already solid for them.
That is what you are working towards with your dog.
When you are home with your child and doing math, likely the treat won't need to be as enticing as it does when you are at the park to hold his attention. The same principle applies to your dog.
The purpose of class is to show you how to show your dog what you are asking of them. The real work is done at home when you put the teachings into practice.
Apply this principle to your classes and training and you will see much faster results.

Happy Training!
