It's not where you go, it's who you go with.

This group of people make it worth it. The hours, the struggles, the hard days are balanced out with all the smiles, laughter, jokes and success.

This weekend, 3 of our students and 3 of our friends trialed with success at the East Coast Working Dog Clubs Schutzhund trial under judge Andrea Duggan.

Congrats to my good friend and student, Crystal and Nash, who got their UPr2 (the level 2 obedience) and took High Obedience with their beautiful routine.
When they started training with us 2 years ago I remember us agreeing that if Nash ever got a BH, it would be a great achievement. Instead they put in tremendous work and he got his BH, UPr1 and now UPr2. Amazing job!

AJ and Rival got their BH with flying colors. They started training with us only a year ago when Rival was a puppy. AJ has put in a tremendous amount of work at home. Its not easy driving 2.5 hrs for training days but they are dedicated!

Jean and Maya got their Fpr1 which is the level 1 tracking title! Jean and Maya have worked so hard at home tracking all the time and we cannot take much credit for Jeans dedication to the art of tracking! She has put in the hours it takes and got a 93 points and High in Tracking!

And congrats to our friends, Karen who got her IGP1 with High in Trial and High Protection.
Ravi who got her FPr1 title with Juno!
And Anne who got her IFH1 title with Aspen and had a super great track!

Im so happy for you all!

As a coach, its important to post when you do well, and when you don't, so that your students don't think that they can't fail and that somehow we never do.

I was really fortunate with Rival, we never failed a trial, all the way from a BH to the world championships.

With Boxey, its been a different story with new challenges. We failed our first IGP1 attempt in May with a DQ in protection for no out. Then we went on to get our IGP1 in August, with very high scores, high in trial and high obedience.

Now we failed our IGP2 with another DQ, no out again. We will try again hopefully in a month for our 2.

But its important never to give up and to remember, its just a dog sport!
But damn, look at that pretty heeling. Thats what its about for me.... good training, and enjoying the journey.

Pictures of Boxey at her IGP1 trial where she won High in Trial and High Obedience.

People are asking about our breeding and unfortunately while we were trialing she was in heat and apparently was in standing heat because we missed the breeding window. The day after the trial was already too late so Boxey did not get bred.
It was not meant to be. So now we will continue to trial her this fall.

So we will try for something in 2026, not sure if spring or fall, depending how everything goes in the meantime.

Wish us luck for her IGP2 next weekend.

Mika has been here for about 10 days now.
Early training is SO important when you see early issues like resource guarding, and her owners made the great decision to reach out IMMEDIATELY and not wait. They immediately booked a program for her and brought her down to us a couple days after. How committed are they!? Amazing.
Once this girl was any bigger it gets harder and harder to stop.

Mika has come so far and we are excited to see how she progresses over the next week before she returns home, hopefully a much more confident, safe and happy pup!

We have worked extensively on confidence, handling, resource guarding, leash training and done some basic fun obedience. She is also getting social skill work with the dogs.

Very successful day at the Moncton Retriever Club for us, despite the rain!

Jade and Jersey passed their WC title, showing that Jersey still has it at 9.5 years old!
She had a great time doing her favorite thing and ran as fast as ever. The WC title consists of 2 land retrieves and 2 water retrieves, thrown as singles.

Brittany with Reva and Koska both earned their WCX titles.
The WCX consists of a land double retrieve, a land blind, a water double retrieve, and a water blind. They also must show steadiness, handle being shot over (blanks obviously) deliver all birds to hand, do a walk-up test, and also honor (watch another dog retrieve without breaking) It was a lot of fun and challenging but the girls were stellar!

Tammy and Kira earned their WCI in the morning, and decided to give WCX a try in the afternoon and passed! So proud of them, they have worked so hard!

Thanks to the judges and clubs for organizing and hosting! Another season done for these ladies as this was the last test for the season for them.

Proud of Jax.
He's come so far in just under 4 weeks of training for hunting.
Hes 11 months old. Last night was his first pond introduction and second gunfire intro, second time with a thrower. He's completed formal fetch and collar conditioning as well as pile work and basic marks.
Lots to work on yet but hes coming along.

Boxey earned her IGP1 yesterday and took High in Trial and High in Obedience under Judge Frank McEniry.
Scores: Tracking 95 Obedience 93 Protection 95 Total 283

On to the next adventure... hopefully our first German Shepherd litter 🤩

Now we will try to breed Boxey since we did this trial while she was in heat. Hopefully we didnt miss the breeding window.

When you have a good dog + good training you can make great progress!

Jax is here for his formal hunting work. People underestimate the importance of formal fetch training. Your dog can love to retrieve but it doesnt mean they are a reliable retriever.
Try putting something in your dogs mouth and telling it to hold it and you'll see how fast things fall apart! Teaching a Hold and then a Fetch is valuable.

Learning the skills to be a hunting dog is important to set them up for their first successful hunt.
Jax here will be a skilled partner!
Check out how he made progress from day 1 not wanting to hold at all and fighting me, to day 12 doing a full retrieve.
He still has 4 weeks with us left.

Looking for an insane working dog for hunt tests, high level obedience or detection? This is an amazing opportunity.

Looking for a working home where this girl can thrive. She will stay until she finds the perfect fit.

She will thrive in:
Hunt tests/field trials
High level obedience
Detection work or sport
She would also make a great hunting companion for duck hunters or upland hunters.

Trained to seasoned/senior level.
Has a Junior Hunter and a Working Certificate Excellent title.
Extreme drive dog. She will run through anything for to complete the retrieve.
Despite the high drive, she will settle well and has a good off switch in the house.
All business when its work time and won't stop until youre done.
Can do 120-150yrd land blinds.
Upland work is great.
Big water entries and powerful swimmer.
Shes completed almost all of land basics and water work is going well. Shes done water T and swim by. Handles on the way back if needed, casts into the water. Angle entries and exits.
Casts well, crisp whistle sits.

NO VICES like vocalizing, creeping etc. Quiet in the holding blinds, quiet on the honor mat.

Trained obedience foundation for CKC rally and obedience. Extremely naturally engaged and obsessed with working with the handler. This is a very rare trait and Ive never seen a dog so eager to work for the handler.

She was in heat Aug 2025
Will be sold with breeding rights.
Health testing is done.
She has Pennhip done (excellent results, L-0.24 R-0.27)
OFA prelims on elbows (normal) and hips (good)
Embark panel clear.
Eyes were also clear.

Shes a one in a million female talent wise, with a stacked pedigree to back it up.

Jax is one of 2 dogs here for Hunting Retriever Foundation program. He is learning all the skills necessary to be a valuable hunting partner for his owner.
Investing in your hunting dog so that they have the knowledge and skill of whats expected of them will always be worth it!
The biggest complaints I hear with untrained dogs are:
"They go get the duck but won't bring it back to me"
"They grab it but then switch for a different one and that one gets away"
"They go to get it but wont pick it up"
Or
"They won't go in the water or if its tough conditions and I have to go myself"

These aren't fun and aren't why you bring a dog.
Get those birds and get them delivered to yur hand!
