That’s a wrap to a great year with the Sask Reined Cow Horse Association!
So incredibly proud of my little mare, Kara (SSS Smart Starlight) we made it to all 4 shows and accumulated enough points to be the 2025 Novice Horse Reserve Champion! 😀

Big thank you to everyone who helped along the way, supported us, cheered us on or came to watch.

It’s been an adventure piloting this gritty, lazy, cow eater and I’m looking forward to continue showing her 🐴💕

This lil spitfire had quite the start of life! Babe is a maiden and wasn’t sure what was goin on and was a little scared of her baby but knew it was hers and that she wanted it.
Babe foaled quick, resulting in a tear.. didn’t want to clean off baby, and had a terrible udder!
Thankfully I have good friends that had colostrum ready for me to get.
Babe’s udder did develop and the foal is nursing happily.

He will be available at weaning, I suspect he will make a great all around, anyone can ride type.

🩺 Huge Thank you to Dr. Lightfoot at Assiniboia Vet Clinic for coaching me through as this was my first mare to tear like this.
🌧️ Grateful that today was a rain day so Carter and Xander were able to stick around and help

First SRCHA show for 2025 is in the books!
SSS Smart Starlight (Kara) really stepped up and worked hard for me.
Day 1: had some hiccups and got 5th in herd work with a 60
Rein 66.5 and fence 69 for a 135.5 placing 1st

Day 2: herd work was better, placing 4th with a 64
Rein 67.5 and fence 68.5 for a 136 placing 3rd.
Kara wanted to work the cow and started making moves without my guidance which is awesome.🤩

Excited to see how we improve over the season

I said goodbye to Wrangler this weekend, she’s been a fun one to ride over the past year and I’m excited to see how she continues to grow and excel.
