National Poison Prevention Week | March 15–21 🐾🚨
This week is all about keeping our furry family members safe! During National Poison Prevention Week (March 15–21), we’re highlighting common household dangers that can seriously harm pets.
Toxic Foods to Avoid:
• Chocolate
• Grapes & raisins
• Xylitol (found in sugar-free gum & candy)
• Onions & garlic
• Alcohol
Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, organ failure, or worse.
Plant Warning for Cat Parents:
While succulents are trendy and beautiful, some varieties—like Aloe vera, Kalanchoe, and Euphorbia—can be toxic to cats if chewed. Always research before bringing new plants home and keep questionable plants out of reach.
⚠️ If Your Pet Ingests Something Toxic:
1️⃣ Stay calm but act fast.
2️⃣ Remove access to the substance.
3️⃣ Call your veterinarian or pet poison control immediately.
4️⃣ Visit your nearest emergency veterinary clinic right away.
Time matters — early treatment can save your pet’s life.
