Many pet owners have been requesting a certain type of cut more and more lately!

And that is… the summer cut!

✨ “Their fur is so fluffy, just looking at them makes me feel hot, so I want it cut shorter!”
✨ “They look hot and pant even indoors 💦”

We often hear these comments from loving owners who want to keep their dogs as cool and comfortable as possible.
⁡
It’s true—Okinawa’s heat and humidity can be tough, so a summer cut can help dogs feel cooler and more comfortable!
⁡
At ONSEN DOG , I also get many orders for summer cuts.
⁡
However!!
⁡
If you want to cut your dog’s coat very short all over, there are some important things you need to be aware of ⚠️
⁡
•Their skin is more exposed to UV rays and can get damaged easily.
⁡
•They’re more prone to heatstroke.
⁡
•They may scratch and injure their own skin more easily.
⁡
•Their coat texture can change (it may grow back fluffy or coarse).
⁡
•In rare cases, the fur might not grow back at all.
⁡
These are some of the risks.
⁡
Breeds like Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, and other dogs that don’t usually need trimming require extra caution!
⁡
A dog’s coat protects their skin and plays an important role in regulating their body temperature.
⁡
If you shave it too short:
• UV rays can damage their skin.
• Fleas and ticks can bite them more easily.
⁡
This can lead to various skin problems!
⁡
If you really want to trim the coat very short so that the skin is visible, please make sure to:
• Use treatment or carbonated spa treatments for extra skin care.
• Dress them in clothes when going for walks.
• Avoid walking during the hottest part of the day.
• Manage the indoor temperature carefully.

Watching dogs from the same household
—whether it’s two or three of them—while they wait is always so interesting! 🐾
Each one has their own personality, and it’s really fun to observe 😊

After their grooming, they often:
🐶 Play together excitedly
😴 Curl up and nap in the same place
👀 Or quietly watch their buddy getting groomed

When they’re with their sibling from the same home,
they seem to feel more secure 🫶
Many of them can relax without getting nervous ✨

It’s kind of like kids going to daycare—
If an older sibling is already there,
the younger one feels more at ease and goes along comfortably 👧👦💕

It was the same with my niece too!
My younger one got used to daycare really quickly

Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more dogs scooting or licking their rear ends.

As a pet parent, you might think,
“It’s probably nothing serious…”

You just want to get the dirt off quickly for your pup, right?
You want to keep them clean every day😊

Are you washing without dealing with tangles first?

When tangles get wet and dry,
they can become hard and stuck close to your dog’s skin.

⚠️Shampoo can get stuck in the tangles and not wash out properly.
The dirt and dust trapped in those tangles can put extra stress on your dog’s skin!⚠️

If tangles stay wet and aren’t fully dried, they can also cause odor.😱

Have you ever had a experience your dog's mouth getting smelly as they gets older and licking your face?

The poodle I used to own is giving her toothpaste gum.
"it's fine!"
That's what I was thinking.
I was unaware of having my dog brush her teeth.

But...

When I look into my dog's mouth,
the smell in her mouth has become stronger since she was over 10 years old.

I couldn't see her teeth because of the sticky strange thing😭

I didn't feel the need to brush dog’s teeth,
so I tried to brush her teeth in a hurry...

🤦🏻‍♀️She didn’t let me brush her teeth

I found out that her teeth could not be cleaned without anesthesia.
