Say hello to Betty!

Betty is an almost 1 year old shepherd husky mix. Mom reached out to me as walks had become increasingly difficult & unenjoyable between her leash pulling & dog reactivity. Betty is a very excitable, overstimulated girl and while she is very sweet some of her behaviours could put her or mom in unwanted or potentially dangerous situations.

Betty & Mom have had two sessions and have already seen tons of improvement. We have conditioned a prong collar & started building connection/slowing things down through leash drills. We will be conditioning the Ecollar to eventually work towards off-leash freedom, another goal for this girl!

Excited to see how this girl progresses!

Join us for our next & .ltd Community Class on Saturday, June 21 - 8am at Feather Park, Squamish BC.

We will take you through a short neutrality walk and guided drills. Focusing on engagement, neutrality & giving you and your dog a chance to train in real world scenarios with like-minded owners!

The last Patio Workshop we will be holding! But stay tuned as we may introduce some one off classes to practice these skills!

Calm Canine Park & Patio is a 3-week workshop designed to learn how to help your dog settle in busy environments, improve leash manners, and build confidence around distractions. Each class will add onto the skills learned in the last & will simulate a patio setting.

We’ll work on impulse control, neutrality, and public etiquette so you can take your dog more places stress-free. One dog per human for each team! This ensures the safety and attention of the group.

Only a month behind but I forgot to introduce our April Day Trains! We spent 3 weeks working on some skills for these guys:

Willow:
Owners Goals: Confidence, Calm Behaviour
We worked on: Place command, confidence building & motivators

Dallas:
Owners Goals: settling in new places, calm behavior
We worked on: LOTS of regulation & place time, minimal crate work to address some separation anxiety & problem solving

Harley:
Owner Goals: Work on Leash Reactivity & Anxiety
We worked on: Slip lead conditioning, communication, place work & crate decompression

Cedar:
Owner Goals: Leash Manners, Settling in new places, Confidence, Calm Behaviour
We worked on: Conditioning various tools for leash pressure, muzzle conditioning, place work & problem solving

Kiwi:
Owner Goals: Calm Behaviour, Settling in new places
We worked on: Settling in a crate, place work, refining leash manners, clarifying expectations

Izzy:
Owner Goals: Leash manners, Calm behaviour, Confidence
We worked on: Slip lead conditioning, place conditioning/defining expectations, crate conditioning to address separation anxiety & lack of independence

I definitely saw improvement over the weeks, the dogs settled quicker & each picked up on various skills. Some of these guys are back for May… stay tuned!

It’s officially time to say CONGRATULATIONS COCO! 🎉

After 264 days in foster care Coco has found her forever home with an AMAZING family. She spent the last few months with me, training & learning how to regulate, cope with stressors & adjust. We worked through her separation anxiety, leash reactivity & social skills and while I will never say a dog is “fixed” as that’s not our goal, Coco has the skills she needs to continue to grow and thrive.

Cocos adopters have spent dedicated time learning these skills, tools & Cocos personality. I am so incredibly excited to support them on their journey and watch her grow into the dog we knew she could be.
