Happy Gotcha Day to my little loves-Tiffany, Winston & Siri 🩵🩷🩵🩷🩵🩷

These munchkins are more than just clients. I met Tiffany in October 2023 after I first moved to Penticton and right away we bonded. She was an anxious little baby girl back then, a bit afraid of the big world around her. But with ongoing support and encouragement from her mama & papa, a wonderful positive reinforcement trainer Wei with Tails and her trusting me to take her on new adventures and introduce her to new friends, she’s an entirely different dog. She’s confident and trusting in her caregivers to keep her safe and happy. She got a new brother Winston who has been nothing but a ball of love and smiles and watching them thrive and play makes my heart so full. Kitty kat Siri is the icing on top of the cake! The cutest little cat who slowly, but surely warmed up to me during pet sitting stays and kept my lap warm 🥰

Happy Gotcha Day to my 3 little love bugs!!! We are all so lucky to know you 🩷🩷

Great water safety reminder from Petra’s Pawdicures 🐶💦

Summer is here and we want to cover some important things that every dog guardian and member of their pack shouldd know.

First thing is Water Intoxication.
Because we love to let our friends cool off have fun. We just need to do it safely.

What are the symptoms of water intoxication in dogs?
Thankfully, water intoxication in dogs is rare, but owners should know what symptoms to look out for.
Water intoxication can cause dogs to feel very poorly very quickly, so it’s important that owners can spot when something is wrong. The signs or changes in behaviours you should look out for in your dog (after they’ve been spending a lot of time in the water) include:

Staggering or loss of coordination
Tiredness
Weakness
Bloating
Vomiting
Passing large amounts of clear urine
Dilated pupils or glazed eyes
Excessive salivation (drooling)
In severe cases of water intoxication, a dog may have difficulty breathing, collapse, have a seizure, or fall into a coma.

With the hotter temps, Tiffany & Winston want to remind everyone to hydrate during walkies!

Always make sure your dog walker carries plenty of water for your pups during and after adventure time. Stay safe out there!

PSA: 🚗☀️ Think cracking the windows is enough? Think again.

On a 25°C day, the temperature inside your car can soar to over 40°C in just 10 minutes—even with the windows cracked 2 inches. That kind of heat can be deadly for pets left inside.

Animals can’t cool down like we do, and heatstroke can happen fast. It only takes a few minutes for a car to become an oven.
Surfaces like the dashboard, steering wheel, and seats can get even hotter (e.g., over 50°C or 122°F).

Never leave your pets in a parked car, even for a short errand. If they can’t come with you, it’s safer to leave them at home!!!

Chaos needs a foster home 🙏🏼

FOSTER NEEDED!

Chaos is a young dog with a condition called Periostitis Ossificans which is a rare inflammatory bone disease causing his jaw to look large and swollen. We would absolutely love to take in this meatball but we need a foster to make that happen.

Chaos is lovely with people and is a big boy at 80lbs. He has no spatial awareness and would do best in an all adult home. He tested well with dogs and could go to a home with a chill female. Chaos would do best in a quieter home and neighborhood. If you can help, please visit our website and complete a foster application. Any questions can be directed to [email protected]. Thank you!

BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen is currently in need of donations 🙏🏼

Our food bank program is in urgent need of both dry and canned food for puppies and adult dogs. This program helps support families in our community who may be struggling to feed their beloved pets, ensuring that no dog goes hungry due to financial hardship.

Right now, our shelves are running low, and we need your help! Whether it’s a bag of kibble or a few cans of wet food, every donation makes a difference. Puppy food is especially needed, but we are grateful for any and all contributions to keep tails wagging and bowls full. 🍗🐶

If you’re able to donate, please reach out or drop off supplies directly at the Penticton SPCA. Thank you for supporting pets and their families in need!! ❤
