These pups enjoyed the corn maze today around all the people, dogs and animals! Bruno’s favourite was the little piglets. 🐽

I’ve been keeping a secret! I will be transitioning over to Passionate Paws, Monday-Thursday’s.

What does this mean? This means I will have limited availability during the week and will be taking a step back from regular walks. I will still be available evenings, Friday-Sunday’s and holidays!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. 🐾

🚨 Bittersweet Goodbyes & Welcoming a New Staff Member 🚨

It’s bittersweet news to share. Brooklyn, who has been with our Structured Daycare Program since day one, will be moving on to new opportunities & heading to BC next month. While I’m so incredibly happy for her & excited to see what her future holds, she has been such a huge part of Passionate Paws & will be deeply missed by both the dogs & the humans here ❤️

To give her the send off she deserves, we’re hosting a Going Away Potluck Party on Sunday, August 24th at 5:00pm here at the shop (5372 Len Thompson Drive, Bay 11, Lacombe).
Everyone is welcome. Bring a dish, bring your dog (as long as everyone’s space is respected) & bring your well wishes for Brooklyn as she starts this next chapter 🐶🥳

Taking over Brooklyn’s role for Structured Daycare & Group Socials will be Madison, a talented trainer from Kind K9 Services who I’ve known for about 4 years. She is fantastic, & I am so excited to have her join the Passionate Paws team! Madison will start on August 19th & work alongside Brooklyn for a bit so we can ensure a smooth transition.

Brooklyn’s last day with us will be September 11th.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

MINI PRIVATE SESSIONS

Feeling overwhelmed? Unsure where to turn? On a tight budget?

This is your chance to connect with two professional trainers and get real guidance—judgment-free!

Bring your questions and concerns (up to two behavior issues per session), and let’s take the first step together. All dogs are welcome!

DROP IN CLASSES

We've got you covered! Join as many—or as few—sessions as you'd like.

Choose from three available dates, each focused on building skills in a structured, controlled environment. Reactive dogs are welcome, as long as they can be safely managed.

Open to non-clients, though we recommend having basic obedience skills in place to get the most out of the class.

Trip Recap! This is what I train for 🐶

2900 km, a province, a island and 2 ferry rides later. We put our training to the test, including sharing the ferry with other pups and a few run ins with off leash dogs along the way!

My Tips for Traveling with Dogs

-Proof your training before exposing your dog to new situations.
Since Bruno is only 8 months old and naturally wary, we didn’t bring him out on the ferry or to every beach trip. It wouldn’t have been fair or wise—his training hasn’t been proofed in those environments yet. Instead, we relied on his strong kennel training during those times, which kept him comfortable and set him up for success.

-Be prepared for unexpected situations.
One night, an off-leash dog wandered into our campsite in the dark. We stayed calm, quickly leashed the dog, and went to find its owners. It was a good reminder that surprises can happen, and staying level-headed matters.

-Use the right tools for your dog.
We used long lines for Bruno while Bo was able to be off-leash—something we’ve trained and proofed for thoroughly. Allowing Bruno off-leash around strangers or unfamiliar dogs would’ve been unsafe and irresponsible, given where he’s at in his training.

-Take advantage of training moments—even on vacation.
I hand-fed Bruno his meals to reinforce leash manners and “leave it” while people passed by our campsite. Training doesn’t stop just because we’re on vacation—it’s actually a great time to build consistency in real-life situations.

One assessment and three sessions later, this sweet 10 year old shepherd is making incredible progress!
She's now walking peacefully alongside her soon-to-be sibling, learning the do's and don'ts of socialization, and even wearing a muzzle comfortably—a big milestone that didn’t come easy. We’re so proud of the work her owner is putting in!
