๐พ ๐พA ChocoBumz Health & Safety Reminder:
This week, one of my own dogs was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
As someone who spends countless hours outdoors with dogs, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone how important tick prevention and regular veterinary checkups have become.
Ticks are no longer just a concern in a few isolated areas. Veterinary experts now consider much of Ontario and many parts of Canada to be at risk for tick exposure, making Lyme disease a concern for all pet owners.
Please remember to:
Check your dog thoroughly after walks, hikes, and outdoor playtime. Discuss tick prevention options with your veterinarian. Be aware of signs such as lethargy, fever, loss of appetite, lameness, or stiffness. Ask your veterinarian whether the Lyme disease vaccine may be appropriate for your dog, especially if they spend significant time outdoors. This vaccine has been available but only offered to high risk areas. Every area now is high risk!
Fortunately, my dog's diagnosis was caught and treatment has begun, but it serves as an important reminder that even diligent pet owners can encounter ticks.
At ChocoBumz, the health and safety of every furry family member is always a top priority. Thank you for helping keep your pups protected so we can continue enjoying our adventures together.
