After more than fifteen years, I quietly closed My Secret Wish Knitting a couple of months ago. I never made an official announcement at the time—I was simply too depleted to find the words. But the truth is, it was time.
This business began simply, publishing a few patterns here and there in response to requests from admirers of my projects. Over time, it developed into a grand dream to serve not only beginner knitters, launching them with the skills they'd need to grow, but also the low vision knitting community. However, I eventually realized that the vision I had wasn’t one I was called to keep building. As much as I loved serving the knitting community, it was no longer where my heart—or my energy—truly belonged. I’ve been in a long process of discerning what God wants for my life, and it became clear that I couldn’t keep trying to do everything. I had to choose.
My deepest passion is creating books and music and helping other authors tell their stories. That’s the work I feel most called to now. Letting go of My Secret Wish Knitting was not easy, but it was necessary. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who supported me along the way. You helped make this chapter so meaningful.
If you're looking for the tutorial videos, they’re still available on YouTube (link in bio). And if you’d like to see what I’m creating now, I’d love to have you visit me at www.talenawinters.com.
Thank you—for the years, the stitches, and the kindness.
Warmly,
Talena
