Long weekend fun!

Tips to bringing your senior dogs camping!

Remember - they may need more comfort care than they used to when younger. They may not adapt as quickly!

Bring familiar items such as - a favorite dog bed or toy.
Make sure to pack extra food incase of accidents or spills.
Make sure to pack any medications needed.

A pet first aid kit is always handy!

Make sure that they have an area of comfort to decompress if they need time away from guests.

Be careful of different bodies of water - the blue green algae is rearing its head again!

Dogs can over heat a lot faster than humans. Make sure they have a cool and shaded area to rest, and always have access to drinking water.

Sometimes in times of "change", being away from home - they may not want to eat right away, and can have some stomach upset. When they feel settled in - appetite will come back!

If going to remote areas, it is a good idea to research Veterinary offices nearby incase of emergencies.

Expect that they may sleep a lot more when they get home. They will need a stay-cation from your vacation!

But I promise you - bringing your dogs when your able - will make the best memories!

Today was a hot one!
Remember- our dogs do not tolerate heat as well as we do!
Kodiak enjoyed his romp in his own pool!
Make sure your pup always has access to shade, cool areas, and lots and lots of water!

Signs of heat stroke in dogs:

Early signs:
• Excessive panting (loud, rapid, or labored breathing)
• Drooling (thick, sticky saliva)
• Bright red or dark gums/tongue
• Restlessness or agitation
• Increased heart rate

Progressing signs:
• Vomiting or diarrhea (sometimes with blood)
• Weakness, wobbliness, or collapse
• Glazed eyes or appearing dazed
• Very high body temperature (above 104°F / 40°C)

Severe/emergency signs:
• Seizures
• Loss of consciousness
• Very pale or bluish gums/tongue (circulatory collapse)

Any of these signs and contact a vet immediately!

Stay cool folks!

Off to the lake!
Camping tips for taking your pup!

1. Make sure they are comfortable on a longline. Most campgrounds do not allow off leash dogs!

2. Bring off the ground cots for beds outdoors! In the cold- they are off the even colder ground to keep warm! In the heat they are off the ground to promote air flow!

3. Remember this may be a new environment for your dog! Give them grace as they figure out their boundaries.

4. Make sure they have a comfortable decompression area in the trailer/tent/cabin as the new environment is way more stimulating than home!

5. Carry a doggy first aid kit in case of accidents!

6. If the days call for colder weather and rain….. DONT FORGET THE UNICORN JACKET!

Ps- we have little reception any inquiries will be looked at Monday 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Are you having trouble with your pup?
They don't seem to care to listen, maybe some destructive behaviours, or even reactivity and aggression?

Did you know that all behavioural "problems" are created by an unhealthy relationship between you and your pup?

We as humans - we don't realize how important it is to have a strong, leadership based relationship filled with structure, rules and boundaries as well as "love".

Love in the human world means - affection.
Love in the dog world means clear expectations.

If you ask your dog to sit at home and they blow you off with no consequences, why would they expect they need to listen to you in other situations such as reactivity or aggression?

This is where CONSISTENCY and follow through matters.

By giving them structure/boundaries we are teaching them that we control the resources, and therefore promoting respect for leadership.

Too much freedom in some dogs can allow them to become dominant, reduce their impulse control (they always get what they want), reduce listening, and higher their anxiety.

This isn't about being harsh - it's about clear, kind boundaries that will help dogs feel secure, be well behaved and promote respect for leadership.

Be your dogs leader first and their friend second!

Hey guys!
I have always wanted to create a safe space for clients (past/present/current) to be able to reach out in a safe community for support!
So I have created a private facebook group that I encourage everyone to post ideas, ask questions, and just feel comfortable to ask for advice or even just emotional support during and after your training journey!

I will also be posting information/facts/helpful tips and uploading information files to help the community learn and grow!

This QR code will take you directly to the group! As well as this link!

I hope to see you all there!!

As I reignite my passion for training, I aspire to elevate my social media presence to better empower our community.

Weekly discussion topics will be chosen, and I invite you to share your wisdom, experiences, and questions.

Our collective goal is to uplift the well-being and prosperity of our canine companions, acknowledging the unique spirit of each animal.

By communicating openly, we can create a sanctuary for individuals to express their concerns and experiences with their pets.

This week's topic is centered on meeting your specific needs. What subjects would you like to explore? Please provide your suggestions and include a photo of your fur babe!

Hello my lovely clients and friends,
I’m sure you have all noticed recently I have been a little MIA.

For that I apologize! Life has thrown me a few curve balls and I am working hard to get back on my way!

For those struggling, remember you are never alone.

One thing I have realized is that just like when we train our dogs… we can’t give in to the negative experiences, no matter how much they affect you. Avoidance never works! It only makes your world small.

If only someone would use an E-collar on me to help me push through 🤣

We owe it to ourseslves, and our dogs to overcome the challenges of life.

There will always be people out there who want to see you fail. And remember, this is a characteristic of them, not you.

So with pushing forward I will be taking on a small number of clients, starting in septmeber!

Due to the circumstances I have been going through, there will be a mandatory video or in person consultation off site/in public prior to any services or in depth conversations.
These will be free- lasting about 30 minutes.
In this consultation you are able to ask any questions and we will chat about your needs and also your ultimate goals. With this information, it will help me determine what kind of program would be best to suit your needs as well as the needs of your dog(s). During this time we will also be able to get to know one another and determine if we are the right fit to be working together!

I look forward to being back in action! Helping families live harmoniously with their dogs is truly my passion and I am so lucky to be able to do this to help support my family!

Below are some AI photos I was fooling around with to lighten the mood!

Did you know, training is always!
Whenever you interact with your dog they are learning from you!

This can mean learning good things….. or bad!!!

Training isn’t just drills and commands. True training changes your relationship with your dog.

From puppy to senior, training and learning never ends!

"Pet First Aid is defined as the emergency measures required to save pets lives, prevent further injury, and to ease pain and discomfort until qualified veterinary assistance is obtained........In Pet First Aid Emergency, first aid knowledge and skills could literally mean the difference between life and death" - Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid

Angel and I attended our renewal Pet First Aid course! It is always a great skill to have when working or living with animals!

Angel was such a trooper as she let me practice all sorts of bandages and wound covers!

She even assisted in practicing CPR on the dummy dog. And by that I mean she gave kisses for moral support🤣

Walks 'N' Wags has a great course, very knowledgeable instructors and the class was so much fun to learn in!

I wanted to give a shout out to all of my followers and clients! Thank you for all of your support throughout the years!...

Thank you for all of your support throughout the years!
It has been a crazy journey that has been so uplifting and empowering!

I started this company in the middle of COVID, and 6 months pregnant 😝.

Nesting maybe ??? Ha!

My passion has always been in helping rescues, trying to give the troubled dogs a chance at loving life to the fullest safely.

I thought, maybe I can do this, and help support my family ?

And that’s when ARK was born.
It is named after my first 3 rescues I adopted from Second Chance Animal Rescue Society - Alberta.
Angel, Rosie, and Kodiak.

KRA ? Nope
RAK? Nope
ARK- that’s a word. Beautiful.

To me it means what I see in my dogs on a daily basis.

Resilience
Happiness
Forgiveness
Humbleness
Love
Loyalty
Honesty
Hard work
And Badass.

And likely some sass in there too 😝

But we wouldn’t be what we are today without you ! Clients and followers are what keeps us going on a daily basis. Seeing the relationships and bonds grow between you and your dogs!

Makes my heart warm.

Please post your fav pic of you and your dog, of if your shy just your dog!

And remember! I am here for you, it is a journey. We can do this together!
