To help prevent elbow hygromas, use soft bedding and protective padding to prevent trauma to your dog’s joints. They are typically painless, but you should see your veterinarian if they become infected. Signs of an infected hygroma can be:

· Your dog is reluctant to lie down or seems uncomfortable
· The hygroma is swollen and the area is warm to the touch
· There is discharge or fluid coming from the growth

🩺🐾 A Wildly Rewarding Day in the Clinic! 🦝🐺

A few weeks ago our team had the joy of checking in on two special patients—a baby coyote and a young raccoon—during a follow-up visit with our partner wildlife rescue. We're happy to report both are healing well!

🎬 The visit was filmed as part of the upcoming mini-series Pawsitive Vibes Only—a heartwarming six-part journey into the many worlds of veterinary care. From wildlife rehab to senior pet care, this feel-good series shines a light on the compassion, dedication, and everyday miracles that happen in our field.

📺 More info on the release date coming soon!
We’re so proud to be part of this project and to share the stories that remind us why we do what we do.

With summer BBQs and picnics happening over the next few months, snacks and scraps can sometimes make their way to your dog. In addition to the usual suspects like chocolate, garlic, and grapes, salty snacks and food can also be toxic to your dog.

Keep your pets away from salty foods like chips, french fries, and processed meats, as too much salt can be toxic. You can learn more about it here: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/is-salt-bad-for-dogs/

Our Story

We are located in Kanata (west of Ottawa), less than a minute from the Queensway. We have been in operation since 1999, catering to domestic and small animals. Our vision is to provide a personalized level of health care for pets because we believe that pets are an important part of our families. We also believe that keeping them healthy involves a partnership between you as caregiver and us as a health care provider. Our practice is based on preventative care and wellness, to keep your pet as healthy as possible for as long as possible. During each half hour appointment, we are able to get to know you, your pet and your lifestyle so we can provide personalized care for your pet, including parasite prevention, vaccination, nutritional counselling, behavioural counselling, routine lab testing, senior wellness care and so much more!

Services we provide include medical, surgical, health & wellness, emergency/critical care and diagnostics including x-rays and lab testing. We consult with you every step of the way and encourage you to ask questions and become as informed and involved as possible.

We keep up with the rapidly changing nature of pet health through a commitment to continuing education for all of our staff, to ensure we provide our clients with the most up-to-date techniques and knowledge. There is a lot of information regarding pet care available from a variety of sources these days; we are always ready and willing to guide you through this information to sort the relevant from the irrelevant.
