Great news — Groomaholics is officially reopening in the beautiful small town of Pakenham in January 2026! We’ve missed you and your fur babies so much, and we can’t wait to get back to pampering them again.

Why don’t we shave double coated breeds?

Theres always a chance that the hair won’t grow back properly. It could come back super thick, thin, not at all or totally fine. Double coated dogs use their coat for temperature regulation, so shaving them can actually do more harm than good. In the photo below, one of our clients got shaved for a medical procedure and you can see it’s starting to grow back patchy, really thick in one spot and really thin everywhere else.
