🌸 Why We Retire and Rehome Our Breeding Queens
One of the most common questions we’re asked is “Why do you retire and rehome your breeding girls?” 💭
Our queens are not just breeding cats – they are part of our family and are loved deeply. But being a breeding queen is a big responsibility, and after a certain number of litters, we always put their health and happiness first.
✨ Some important things to know about retiring queens:
• Female cats can start breeding as early as a year and a half old, but responsible breeders limit how many litters a queen has to protect her health.
• Pregnancy, nursing, and hormones take a lot of energy from a cat – retiring them allows their bodies to rest and thrive without those demands.
• Living in a busy cattery can sometimes mean less one-on-one time. Retired queens flourish in pet homes where they can enjoy undivided attention.
• Early retirement (usually between 4–5 years old) means they still have many happy, healthy years ahead as much-loved companions.
Rehoming doesn’t mean we love them less – in fact, it’s the opposite. It’s about giving them the chance to shine as the centre of someone’s world, without sharing the spotlight with kittens or other breeding cats.
This is about doing what's best for them,not what easiest for us
We simply can't keep every cat we owned.if we did,it would eventually impact the quality of life for all of them and that's something we never allow
Retiring a queen and finding the right home means she gets the chance to have something really special, more one -to -one attention, a quieter environment and a life where she can truly be someone's special
Every queen that leaves us goes only to carefully chosen homes where we know they will be cherished as much as they are here. 🏡
We take a lot of care in choosing the right homes and these girls will always be part of us
