🐭 Twin Tails Rattery — What's Coming Up 🐭

It’s been a full and fuzzy summer over here, and we’ve got some sweet things on the horizon we’re excited to share.

We’re expecting some new babies soon (eee!) and as always, we’ll be putting all our love into raising them right — with lots of social time, healthy starts, and cozy little setups.

We’re also hoping to connect more deeply with others in the rat world. Whether you’re a breeder, a small rescue, or just someone who loves rats as much as we do, we’d really love to collaborate and keep learning together. If you want to connect send us message ❤️

At Twin Tales Rattery, when you choose to adopt from us, you’re not just taking home a new companion — you’re becoming part of our extended rattie family.

Every single rat born here is loved from the very beginning. From the moment they arrive, we spend time gently handling them, introducing them to the sights and sounds of daily life, and making sure they grow up feeling safe, curious, and confident. We put our hearts into raising them with care, and we’re so proud of the little beings they become.

Because of this deep bond, we make a promise to every rat and every adopter: if at any point in your rat’s life you are no longer able to care for them, you are always welcome to return them to us — no questions asked. Whether it's a change in circumstances or simply the best decision for your rat, we will be here. That promise is forever.

Our adoption fee is $60 for standard males and females, and $65 for our dumbo and velveteen varieties (those with curly fur or special ear types). These fees help support the time, attention, and love we dedicate to each rat — from day one until the moment they leave for their forever home.

All rats go to their new homes no earlier than 5 weeks of age, once we know they are strong, healthy, and ready to begin their next chapter. We ensure they are well-socialized, eating solid food, and thriving before saying goodbye.

We know that adopting a rat isn’t just about finding a pet — it’s about forming a connection with a little soul who will bring joy, companionship, and love into your life. And we’re here to support that bond every step of the way.

Just a little note for anyone wondering about the bedding we use—it’s h**p! 🌿 It’s super comfy, highly absorbent, and best of all, our rats can safely chew on it without any worries. Plus, it’s dust-free, so no respiratory issues for our little friends.

A quick tip: freezing bedding (even store-bought) is a good idea, just in case—you never know what little critters might hitch a ride home with you from the pet store! 🐾 We get ours from a farm in Hamilton, but you can also find it on Amazon.

H**p is a wonderful, affordable option, and you get so much of it! 😊

Hey everyone! 😊 I just wanted to share a little update with you. I wanted to reiterate we’re a small, family-run rattery, which means we take extra care in breeding with the highest standards—so it does take a bit of time. We like to focus on one litter at a time to make sure our rats are really thriving and growing in a loving environment.

We are planning to do one litter at a time at least once per month. So our babies can get reserved fast. Please be patient with our availability and keep an eye on our Facebook / Kijiji listings.

When it comes to our breeding, we put a lot of thought into matching personalities, because we want each little one to have the best temperament possible. We offer Dumbo, velveteen, and other beautiful coat varieties. Just a heads up—unless stated otherwise, all of our rats will be standard-sized. Our boys, in particular, can grow quite large, so that’s something to keep in mind.

We take great care in matching each rat with the right home, and we offer a lifelong promise: if you ever find yourself unable to care for your little one, you can always bring them back to us—no questions asked. They’ll always have a home here.

We started Twin Tails Rattery out of a deep love for our own pet rats, and that love continues to guide everything we do.

From the moment our babies are born, they’re gently handled and socialized so they grow up to be friendly, curious, and confident. We get to know each little personality, and we’re happy to help match you with a baby that suits your home—whether you’re looking for a calm companion for a senior rat or a playful buddy to keep up with younger ones.

Health and happiness are our top priorities. We feed a high-quality diet and offer a variety of enriching treats to keep our rats thriving. This isn’t a breeding mill—we take our time carefully pairing for both health and temperament. Because of this, babies are often reserved quickly, so we appreciate your patience. If none are available right now, keep an eye on our page—more little ones will be arriving soon!

Hello everyone ❤️ We have some exciting news! Twin Tails Rattery is going to be expecting an upcoming litter in a few weeks. We are planning for end of August for our very first litter. We have paired one of our friendliest girls named Ruby (she's an albino velveteen standard sized girl) so we're expecting some big, friendly, wavy haired babies.
