Before settling in Nova Scotia, I had the privilege of directing a pet rescue where I personally fostered over 400 dogs in just three years. That journey shaped my approach to pet care: gentle, informed, and deeply respectful of each animal’s unique needs. As a dedicated pet sitter, I offer more than just check-ins—I provide experienced, trustworthy companionship, recognizing subtle health or behavioral changes and tailoring visits to keep your pets happy and safe. Whether your dog needs structured walks, your cat prefers quiet companionship, or your senior pet requires a little extra TLC, I’m here to help. Every visit is backed by the knowledge of a veterinary technician and the heart of a lifelong animal advocate. In addition, I hold an active licenses with the OAVT and NSVMA/EVTA and uphold credentials including Hills Veterinary Nutritional Advocate, Fear Free Professional Elite Certification and Recover CPR ALS. In the near future I hope to gain my certification to teach Pet CPR to pet parents. Sweet little Megan the Chihuahua mix had a cozy weekend at home while her mom was away. 💛

She can get a bit stressed in new environments, so staying in her own space with her familiar routines helped her feel safe and comfortable. I stopped in multiple times daily to make sure she had everything she needed—meals, walkies, cuddles, and a calm presence.

🔥 BBQ Season = Foreign Body Season!
Some of the most common emergency surgeries we see after a cookout come from what your dog shouldn’t have eaten.

Here are the top culprits:

🌽 Corn Cobs
They smell great and go down fast—but they don’t digest.
⚠️ #1 cause of summer intestinal blockages.

🍖 Cooked Bones
Especially ribs and chicken—these can splinter, lodge, or perforate the GI tract.
Not a treat. Not worth the risk.

🍢 Skewers
Wooden or metal skewers soaked in meat juice? Dogs can't resist.
If swallowed, they can pierce organs and may not show on X-rays.

🧻 Foil & Packaging
Greasy paper towels, burger wrappers, cling film—they smell like food and get gulped down.
💥 Result? Painful obstruction or pancreatitis.

🍑 Fruit Pits
Peaches, cherries, even avocado stones—these can choke or block the digestive tract.
Some are toxic, too.

🌰 Acorns
Not from the grill—but easy to grab under the picnic table.
They can cause blockages and toxicity, especially in smaller dogs.
