Meet Rigs!

Rigs is an 8 month old German Shepherd Golden Retriever cross.

He does not have his vaccinations. Has not been netured.

From first assessment, Rigs seems super friendly. Bubbly and in your pocket type pup. Enjoys walks and giving kisses. Knows how to sit and shake paw and lay down.

He seems to be okay with other dogs. Curious about cats. And did okay with our one horse. Hasn't been around any other animals quite yet as today is his first day. (UPDATE: he's okay with chickens, gets excited around my goats but nothing extreme)

I think he would do well in a home with other dogs. But would do well with a female human only - he seems to cower and shake around men. ( If a man is interested in adopting I would only ask if you'd come out and meet him for a couple hours just for him to get use to you. )

He does get car sick on the road. So if you live close to or in Manitoba he might be okay. But if you do live far please do take that into consideration.

Please note I'm not a rescue. I take in animals because I have a love and appreciation for them. We have Successfully rehomed close to 7 dogs. And most of this we do out of pocket.

With Rigs we are offering him for free - no adoption fee " IF and only IF" the potential home agrees to have him neutered within the first year of having him.

He goes with a spay and neuter and return if needed contract. This boy deserves the best home out there possible. So please be prepared for questions.

If we end up having to pay for him to be netured, he will have an adoption fee attached to his adoption.

I am asking donations to go towards his netuer and vaccinations. And any extra monetary donations will be donated to another rescue or put away for another rescue.

I get messages all the time to take in dogs, cats, bunnies, pigs, and horses. We take in what we can and help those we can. But we're not a rescue, so we can't always afford to take in animals. Even if it hurts us to say no.

Seriously, she is one of the most amazing horses I have ever owned.

Munching on her grain like nothing phases her.

Two more days of IV medication, then 3 weeks of oral medication. My poor girl.

When what was suppose to be a routine dental and removal of a bump turns into - Xrays and Bloodwork ontop of dental with no removal of said bump 🙈

Turns out said bump is a tooth that decided it wanted to grow in the opposite direction ... so xrays off to a specialist and we'll see what the plan shall be to remove said "bump"

Also ends with Echo on a 4 week treatment for Lyme disease and anaplasmosis 🙈 and before anyone asks our ticks do get tested and we have yet to have a horse or tick test for Lyme in the last almost 5 years here 🙈

Part two

Once she was at rest, I watched as Tanga stood watch – she stayed with her until our amazing neighbors came to put her to rest. Tanga and Echo are currently standing at her grave. And all I can hear is Tanga calling out for her.

It breaks me to hear her calling for Hazel – It breaks me to see her standing at her grave. Knowing that Hazel is gone and never coming back.

But to know she was so loved by everyone she met and loved by her sisters – it makes my heart so full.

You were everything and more Hazel. I am so very thankful you were in our life for as long as you were. Thank you for fighting as hard as you could.

Thank you for teaching me. Thank you for teaching Sarah, Rebeca, and Jessica. Thank you for being the most amazing EAL partner for our program. Thank you for being you my sweet girl.

I love you more than words can explain.

Part One

Hazel

How do I even start this?

Today,July 5th 2023 we had to put our beautiful and loving girl down.

It wasn’t an easy decision but it was one I had to choose for her. This beautiful girl was everything and more. She was truly the most amazing horse anyone could have owned.

I remember when I first saw her photo on a Facebook site “Registered American Saddlebred Mare”, being rehomed because they didn’t click but something just spoke out and I just knew I had to get her. I remember it was midnight and James was sleeping, I remember messaging her and not even waking James to tell him that I sent her a deposit to hold her. Just when he woke up the next morning that’s when I spilled the beans.

And for the last four years she has been the best $200 and a western saddle anyone could have bought. We were inseparable together. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love with her.

“Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops away above the chimney tops, that’s where you'll find me.”

Listening to this song over and over again while she left this beautiful world had me remembering my time with Goldie when she passed. When troubles melt like lemon drops, was something I wish could have helped our girl.

As I watched Tanga support her throughout the whole time I was reminded how amazing these creatures are. Watching every interaction between Tanga and Hazel and our wonderful vet made me realize this decision I made was the best decision.
