FULL FIRE BAN NOW IN EFFECT

The above normal temperatures we've experienced continue to create the potential for fire starts and extreme fire behavior. The above normal temperatures are forecasted to continue.

The heat and curing will further dry the grass and other potential fuels.
If you have a fire start or see a fire, call 911 quickly.
We have a better chance if we can catch a fire when it is small.

With a special air quality statement out for Pincher Creek and the majority of southern Alberta, we want to share some tips to help keep your pets and livestock safe!

πŸ„πŸ‘πŸ¦™πŸŽLIVESTOCK and large animal tips:

πŸ”₯ Limit exercise, especially high intensity activities

πŸ”₯ Provide plenty of fresh water near feeding areas

πŸ”₯ Write your phone number in silver sharpie on your horses hoof, braid a cow tag in their mane or other ways to identify your horses in case of emergency

πŸ”₯ limit dust exposure by feeding low-dust or dust-free feeds

πŸ”₯ Mist the livestock holding area to decrease dust

πŸ”₯ Plan to give livestock 4-6 week weeks to recuperate after air quality returns to normal

πŸ”₯ Reduce fire danger by removing dead trees and clear bush

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯ Have a livestock evacuation plan ready in advance! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Notice from Pincher Creek Emergency Services:

The recent snows are gone and we are back to having a high volume of cured fuel available. Use caution in all operations. If you have a fire call 911 immediately as a fast response helps to limit fire size.

They will be limiting issuing debris fire permits as the weather dictates.
