Throwback Thursday to one of those makes that still lives rent-free in my head ✨
This was a pattern test for Dawn the Dragon by the very talented , and honestly… still one of my favourite pattern tests to date. From the details to the personality, this one was such a joy to bring to life.

And those eyes 👀✨
Hand-painted safety eyes by — they added so much character and really made Dawn feel alive.

Some projects just stick with you, and this is definitely one of them 🐉💚

These custom pups were made back in December and designed to look just like the owners’ real dogs 🖤🤎
There was a ton of custom colour work involved to match markings, coats, and overall vibe as closely as possible.

The base pattern I worked from is ‘s German Shepherd pattern. Even though these aren’t shepherds, it’s such a solid foundation to adapt — and I love supporting fellow Canadian designers and crocheters 🇨🇦✨

Safety eyes are hand-painted by , which really helped bring these customs to life and gave them that extra personality.

Customs like these are always a fun challenge and a reminder that a good base pattern plus creativity can go a long way 🧶
