In honour of a special birthday girl today we are raising funds to cover some medical debt from 3 hillside dogs that this special employee stepped up for above and beyond and made sure they had the absolute best forevers

Cassia has been employed here for over 6 years now

Her rescue work in our community and all over Ontario does not go unnoticed and we are so greatful to call her part of our team.

Often we are a very full shelter and we have many dogs that get been transfered to other rescues or shelters due to all types of reasons.

Generally speaking, we can only adopt dogs out who are safe and who are healthy

In the last few years, we have seen an Increasing number of dogs arriving to our shelter with preventable illnesses like Lyme disease and heartworm. Good dogs that are sick because their owners failed them.

Due to how overwhelmed Ontario is with dogs, we have been really struggling to place larger breed dogs or dogs with the burden of medical costs, even with the most amazing rescues, we all have our limit and funds don't grow on trees.

In May, Cassia lost her grandmother and she was the most special person in her life. At the same time we had 3 heartworm dogs sitting in our shelter with potentially grim fates without support

She chose to take the money she recieved from her Nana's death benefit and use it to make a difference in 3 special lives

Cassia stepped up and said there is no way these dogs will be euthanized just because they have a big vet bill attached to them.

She made a commitment to 3 special families to make sure these dogs had their heartworm treatments AFTER they were adopted. And fundraised every dollar she could and paying the rest with her personal savings.

These 3 special pups, Itty Bitty now named Tess, Henry and Linda are all alive and have recieved their full series of heartworm medication/injections and will come back in February to he retested. Theyre thriving and so happy and best of all have completed their families too 💗

This came at a cost of a whopping $8500 total.

As someone who runs a rescue of her own, has a family and a mortgage, thats not a small number and we want to take this moment to thank her for all her hard work and most of all her love and dedication to these dogs.

If you could make a small donation to her rescue today to help her help more dogs and show her some love- we definitely think she deserves it!!

E transfers can be sent to [email protected]

Thanks so much Cassia and Happy Birthday!

To Tess, Linda and Henry.... we are so happy to be a part of your stories!! Have the Best lives ❤️ 💕 💓

Adopt me

Freddy
Male (will be neutered)
70lbs - 11 months
Cane corso mix

This young boy arrived as a stray from a local community and was never claimed. There were some rumors as to whom he belonged to, however no calls ever came.

He was very nervous upon arrival and skiddish.
He's got the saddest wrinkly faces and is truly a loving boy
It has taken a few weeks to build a relationship to where we could properly assess him and determine his best suited home without him shutting down in a high stress situation.

Freddy is a huge suck and wants to be with his people.
Hes an in your pocket follow you to the washroom share your snack kinda dude.

He will climb a fence, open a gate or scale a kennel run to come see you. He is an escape artist and can get out of normal crates too. He is going to need a home experienced with Corso type breeds.

He gets along with some female dogs however he tries to be dominant with male dogs. He needs training and work on socializing in a controlled setting in order to be more dog social while he's still young. And he will be neutered upon adoption.

This boy needs work on leash skills and a strong owner. He's very sweet but will jump up and mouth the leash if he gets over excited.

He's a big puppy who needs guidance.

Best suited in a home with kids over 12 years. Teens or adults only is preferred due to his size and lack of spacial awareness

Confident handler. Can't be nervous of dogs with breeds like cane corsos.

If you have another dog we ask that you bring it out to meet him prior to adoption. He will not be adoptable to a home with dogs under 40lbs or male dogs at this time.

Adoption fee is $450 plus hst

If interested in adopting Freddy please call 519 469 3247 and leave a detailed message.

Adopted!!! 🥰

Benji
2 year old
Neutered male
Poodle x terrier
18lbs

*we can not guarantee this dog won't bother allergies so please don't ask*

Benji arrived as a stray. His owner did call, but then after agreeing to come and claim him, never showed up and then ghosted us.

Benji is not enjoying life in the shelter and we would love to find him a committed forever home that cherishes him!

Benji is a little guy with a big voice and is better suited in a detached home then an appartment or condo.

His ideal home would have kids to play with.

He needs a secure back yard as he is quick!

Benji seems to be dog selective and if you have other dogs we would ask that you bring them out to meet, prior to adoption. Proper greetings is a must.
He prefers dogs his size and female dogs but calm male dogs seem to be okay. We are not able to cat test but he doesnt seem to bothered by the cats in the room he's in. The cats on the other hand may tell you otherwise as he gets upset when we aren't in the same room as him!

This little guy needs a home where people are home more then not or can take him with them

We're not sure if he's crate trained but he appears house trained and holds it to go for his walks most days!

Adoption fee is $450 plus hst

If interested in adoption please call 519 469 3247 and leave a detailed message.

We have a lot of rescues that we work with on a regular basis, too many to mention. We appreciate every rescue that has taken dogs from us, dogs that we were unable to adopt. Dogs that are old, dogs that have behavioural issues. So many have been saved due to the help of these rescues. We feel like we need to give a special shout out, once again to Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre. Today, they pulled 8 dogs out of our kennel. Mid September, they pulled 6! They have taken dogs multiple times leaving us with room for more strays. Sadly, it doesn’t take long to fill those cages. 3 dogs yesterday ( 2 were called in as strays by their owner). And 2 more today. But this is about these 8 dogs given a chance by an amazing organization that will find great homes for them all. If you are looking to donate to a great place that helps Animals , please consider them. I will lave a link to their fb page here! ❤️🐾
