Where It Is Still

Texas gate or cattle guard, call it what you will
When you cross that bumpy thing, you’re headed where it’s still
A place where time slows down, you wait for cattle on the road
A place to go and decompress and lighten up your load

A place where traffic ceases, there won’t be any lights
A Place where you can feel so small, on a lit up starry night
A secret place for ranchers, a private honey hole
A place to go and git, when life has took its toll

The grasslands getting smaller, it’s felt the wrath of man
But the stewards will hang on and protect it if they can
Texas gate or cattle guard, call it what you will
I hope our kids can cross it, and go find a place that’s still

Thursday Night At The Auction Sale

There are a lot of sites offered on the internet to sell personal items. It used to be that if a person needed to sell some things they weren’t using, they put them in a consignment sale or garage sale . There are getting to be fewer and fewer consignment sales all the time. I feel very lucky to have grown up around auction sales. My folks had an auction barn and we sold farm, household, antiques and more. Two Thursdays a month they would fill that auction barn with the same loyal folks.
I put my memories into a poem.
