And jackets are needed!

Did you know that there are zero pet friendly shelters located in Hamilton? This means that owners are often forced to stay out in the cold to be with their companion. Let’s make it easier on both pet and owner and the colder months roll in! Donations will be distributed through our local partners!

SMALL / MEDIUM / LARGE / X-LARGE dog jackets, sweaters and paw protectors are needed. Blankets, towels, warm are also items needed.

Unfortunately, having a pet is often a barrier for people needing to find shelter or access public services. It is very common, that people are forced to choose between a shelter bed and staying on the street with their pet. Needless to say, most people choose the latter.

Steel City Hounds is dedicated to easing the hardships faced by homeless and low-income pet owners by making essential items easily accessible through partnerships with local shelters and community resources.

We take a judgement free - solution oriented approach to maximize the health and safety of animals living in less than ideal conditions across our city.
