This Thanksgiving, we wear orange. π§‘
This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the country we live in, while being ashamed of the decisions it has made, and continues to make.
This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the land we get to explore, while remembering it is not ours. We live in and enjoy Miβkmaβki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Miβkmaq people. It was not given, it was stolen, but despite that, their roots run deep and this land will always be theirs.
We cannot advocate against abuse and dominance theory in the dog industry without also acknowledging abuse, oppression and white supremacy in the world as a whole. We stand with Palestine and Ukraine. We stand with women, people of colour and q***r people. We stand with the native women who are still missing, and the ones who fear they or a loved one are next, because the statistics are terrifying. We stand with the families left with no answers because of a racist system. We stand with the oppressed, no matter the species, because we are all integral parts of the universe and no one is free until we all are.
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and to spend time with family, and if you have the opportunity to do that, you are privileged. So when you look around at a table full of food, remember that not everyone has that. When you look at your family, be grateful there arenβt empty seats. When you hug your pet, remember how many of them were lost too.
Happy Thanksgiving. May your houses and plates be full, and the love and harvest be plentiful. π§‘
