Gabriola Pack Walk and Play Nothing tires out a dog like another dog! Finally I'm dipping my toe in the water as I drop to part time telework and part time dream job. Where, you ask?

Gabriola Pack Walk & Play has been a business I've wanted to launch for a long time (and admittedly inspired by the amazing pack walks my dogs used to join with Mathew Hatherley in Ucluelet). I've had animals since I was a kid and hauled home every critter that's needed a helping hand along the way. For decades I've been involved in rescue and foster, whether it's been the desert dogs of the Sinai

, Arctic huskies or the umpteen golden retrievers I've fostered (or foster-failed) over they years. Your canine family will come out with our crew on a long line and go on adventures! Well that will depend on their character, the group and the weather.

This is Frankie. Frankie likes to sit in the front seat with her elbow on the armrest and toes on the controls. In the summer this isn't much of an issue but when it's pelting rain in the winter, I prefer the windows are shut. Frankie disagrees. We have window battles. I put it up, she puts it down. And repeat. Until I tap the brakes. And the window goes up as she scrambles to get on the controls again.

You'd never know it, but Monday mornings I put clean bedding in the stinky dog van. Angus is always the first to enjoy the new bedding. This week, however, Myrtle and Jade decided the pile of clean fuzzy white blankets was for them not the van.

Pond Update

I've decided to drain the pond. Despite treating it with animal-safe products, adding gypsum to improve water clarity, and spending considerable time trying to establish grasses to reduce runoff, I haven't been able to achieve the results I was hoping for.
I also researched filtration and aeration systems, but the equipment required would be a significant investment and would only be practical to use on weekends, as the dogs would likely damage it during regular use.
For now, we'll return to pool play and revisit the pond when the rainy season returns.
