***Tuesday Adoptable***
What better way to get a dog than to help a senior dog. You can either Volunteer , adopt or spread the word to people so we can help as many dogs stay with their aging families. If you have an aging dog and are not able to care for it anymore you can always contact to see if they can help.
Meet Walter:
I am a sweet 3-year-old Boston Terrier looking for my forever home. I have lived with other dogs (Boston Terriers) and absolutely loved them. I liked nothing more than playing with my siblings. I love snoozing in the sun, and my favourites thing is my chews. I am a very well-behaved boy; love car rides, good at the vet, good with getting my nails trimmed and I have never been destructive in any way.
I am a little shy when I meet strangers, but just give me a little time, and I will warm up. I really enjoy children, but can get excited and jump. I have never lived with a cat, don’t know how I would be around them.
Apparently, I was born with a spinal injury. It doesn’t affect my mobility at all, I can still run and play with other dogs. I do however dribble because of my injury, so I have been wearing cute little diapers all my life. They don’t bother me, and I am a perfect gentleman when it comes to diaper changes. It only takes about 10 minutes, and then I am good to go! I am neutered, and up to date with vaccinations.
My ideal home would be one with another friendly playmate, and with people who can understand and appreciate that I really am a wonderful companion, even though I have this darned dribble problem. It really isn’t a problem. I just need to be cleaned up every day. If you would like to give me my forever home, please email [email protected]

Once he feels comfortable, his sweet nature shines through, and he’s ready to offer all the love in his heart. If you’re looking for an active and affectionate companion, come meet Patrick today - he can’t wait to meet you!

It’s time to boost confidence and give love. This gal will be little bit of work, but with the right family she will be your best friend. Should you need/want training, you know who to call please read below.

Winnie
Approx Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Site: Dartmouth

Meet Winnie!!

Winnie has been enjoying her time in her foster home and is now ready to make her adoption debut! She is currently a foster-to-adopt, as she can’t be spayed yet (she’s in heat) and will need to wait six weeks after her heat to undergo the procedure. She is also on Apoquel long term to manage a skin condition.

This is what her fosters had to say:

Miss Winnie has a lovely personality. She’s full of cuddles & hugs & wants to be close. She does not bark often & nothing seems to phase her (such as loud noises). If Winnie is invited to your bed, you will find she likes to go under the blankets to sleep or asks to be covered by a blanket when on the couch. She seems in awe of the world around her-stopping to watch birds, people getting into their cars-and seems very aware of her surroundings. When on leash walks & have encountered other dogs, she is curious & excited. She likes to play with toys in the yard & in the house & is very fast & agile. She has not chewed any of our belongings or anything she shouldn’t.

Winnie will require continued support to teach her “manners”-with sit, stay, down, jumping & leash walking. She’s also a bit of a “counter-surfer” so important to be aware of that. Other than that she is very sweet & loving & her new family will be so lucky to have her.

Winnie is looking for a loving family that can offer her the time and attention she deserves. She’d be a great fit for a home with children 10+ and a dog sibling, provided they get along after an introduction is made. She’d love to be part of a family where she can share in the love and attention, making her a great addition to the right home! Winnie has not been tested with cats, so we recommend a cat-free home or a slow, careful introduction if there are other pets in the household.

Rocky
If you adopt a Tuesday Adoptable and request training with you will get
20% off your training. Note that unsure, fearful, or confidence boosting dogs take more time, therefore you have to build trust, respect, love. Calmness, love, peace, and joy, all while giving exercise, discipline, affection. (To help a dog you will want to set rules, boundaries, limitations at the same time letting them come to you). Be at their level and nurture calmness. Give affection at the right time, when they are calm and happy. we know how to help dogs of all types.

Rocky
Approx Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Site: Dartmouth
GSD X (31 kgs)
~ 5 years old
Male / Neutered
Adult home / only pet but can have dog friends

If you’re looking for an intelligent and loyal dog ( stunning good looks as a bonus) who will love you fiercely, Rocky could be the one for you! He just needs a patient, understanding adopter who can help him learn life skills that will help him live his best life.

Rocky has some unique traits that we want to be transparent about. He is a resource guarder, which means he can be protective over his food, toys, and other valuable items. While this is something that can be managed, it’s important that Rocky’s future family has experience with dogs who display this behavior to ensure Rocky is comfortable and secure in his new home.

Rocky will do best in a calm and structured environment where he knows the rules and feels safe. With the right guidance and consistent training, Rocky can be a wonderful companion who forms strong, loyal bonds with his family. Rocky is currently being treated for Lyme disease.

Interested in adding this adoptable to your family? We’re so excited for you! Please drop by our shelter to meet them in person so we can officially start the adoption process. We know you must be excited to show your interest in this animal but, we are not able to accept online applications for animals located at our Dartmouth shelter without that initial meeting.

Heidi

Approx Age: 2 years

Site: HRM Animal Redemption Centre

Meet Heidi, a sweet and sensitive girl searching for a patient, adult-only family who can provide her with the calm and quiet environment she needs to thrive. Heidi has had a challenging past and is still learning what it means to be a loved family member. She struggles with walking on a leash and can become anxious in new, busy, or loud environments.

Heidi will do best with a dedicated emotional support person who can help her work through her fears and build her confidence. Heidi's journey will take time, and adopters should be prepared for multiple visits (at least three) to help her feel comfortable before she's ready for adoption.

All meet-and-greet appointments are by appointment only, and we can sometimes accommodate last-minute or short-notice visits. If you're looking for a loving and patient companion who will need extra time and care to open up, Heidi could be the perfect match for you.
