Last Wednesday our friends over at Winnipeg Animal Services came out to drop off these 2 Mississippi Map Turtles they received and were not able to care for.

For now they're set up outside where they can enjoy the space and natural sunlight. They'll be moved inside with the rest of the turtles when the weather starts cooling off in a couple weeks.

This male Red Eared Slider was dropped off this evening. A young gentlemen working for the city was cutting grass and found this guy cruising around Harbison Ave West in Elmwood near Henderson Hwy. Possibly an escaped pet or more likely a dumped pet.

Turtles should not be released, they can hybridize with our painted turtles and cause issues with our native ecosystem. If you or someone needs to rehome a turtle or any animal please contact an appropriate place that can take them, DO NOT RELEASE THEM!

Our awesome Animal Club returns this September now at TWO convenient locations! Designed for kids ages 6–14, each session features an interactive, hands-on critter presentation followed by fun activities and themed crafts.

Locations & Kickoff Dates:

Ste-Geneviève Community Centre
Schedule: 2nd Thursday of the month
First Session: Thursday, September 10th | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

West St. Paul Recreation - Access Centre
Schedule: 3rd Thursday of the month
First Session: Thursday, September 17th | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Pricing & Details:
Ages: 6 to 14
Drop-in: $20 / session (at the door)
Full Year Pass: $150 for the year (just $15 / session!)

To those asking, our clients and friends in Calgary we are not attending the WCRE this year. Sadly they decided to cancel and replace us with another option. Unfortunate but the way things go with some clients.

Don't worry though, we'll be back for the The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society - TARAS expo in Calgary and the Herptile Rescue and Education Foundation expo in Edmonton in October.
