Are you a student looking to complete your 40-hour volunteer requirement while gaining real-world experience?

Bugson Lifelines is the leading and only specialized service dog owner-training program in Northern Ontario. We are looking for a reliable, tech-savvy student to join our team as a Digital Content Apprentice.

What you’ll be doing:
• Content Creation: Learning how to film, edit, and use algorithms to build an audience for our mission.
• Behind-the-Scenes: Getting hands-on with on-site recording and photography.
• Management: Helping maintain our social media presence and website updates.

This is an opportunity to build your creative portfolio, gain professional experience in digital marketing, and contribute to a high-impact mission—all while knocking out your 40-hour volunteer hours.

This week’s story highlights workplace accommodations—and what can happen when access is denied.

In one documented situation, an individual required adjustments to work safely, including modified hours and the support of a service dog 🐕‍🦺. While initial support was present, the request was later denied, with restrictions placed on what types of service dogs would be accepted.

What followed was a lengthy process involving documentation, advocacy, and navigating formal channels. Situations like this highlight an important reality: workplaces function better when accessibility needs are understood and supported.

🦮 Ever wondered what it takes to build a confident, capable service dog team?

🦮 Meet Pamela, Founder of Bugson Lifelines, and her lifeline, Mason. 🦮

I started Bugson Lifelines because of the incredible partnerships I’ve had with my service dogs. The “Lifelines” part of our name comes from Mason and all my service dogs before him, who have been my lifelines through every challenge.🐾

From my first service dog to Mason, my current partner, I’ve spent decades learning what it takes to create real-world, reliable service dog teams. 🐶 Mason — my shepherd mix service dog, my partner, and my lifeline — and I work every day to build skills, independence, and confidence that make a real-world difference. ❤️

The reason I created this business is simple: Northern Ontario had very limited support for owner-trainer service dogs, accessibility guidance, and education. I wanted to help and protect these teams while sharing my knowledge through public speaking, 🎤 workshops, 🏨and hands-on training — making sure handlers leave confident and capable in the real world.
