Pickle loves her "walks." We always do a loop around the park for business sake... But she really gets down to business when we go through the park. Pickle likes to stop to people-watch in 4 to 5 different spots across the park... You have to get all the angles when you're people-watching, you see? We always enjoy our time together. No matter what we do. ā¤ļø Canine enrichment at its finest.

Boom! šŸ’„ This is what happens when everyone decides to go wild at once … and Barkley charges in from the wrong direction! šŸ˜‚ (Don’t worry, no dogs were harmed!)

Petunia took her time exploring Kent on our outing today. I was a little nervous about the Halloween decor, but she was quite curious, and very brave. Unsurprisingly, P made friends with every employee in the store, and was told several times to visit them again. ā¤ļø

✨ Here’s the $4 hack that completely changed life for my reactive dog šŸ¾šŸ’›
It’s no secret—Ivy, my sweet girl, is a highly sensitive (reactive) rescue dog. I’ve tried to be open and honest about our journey here, and for the last two years, our focus has been on one thing: helping Ivy feel safe.
Safety is always a priority with sensitive dogs. Training only works when a dog is in the right mental space to learn. Just like people, they can’t take in new information when they’re anxious or on edge; their brains are focused on survival, not learning.
That’s why I’m a big believer in management and maintenance. Creating an environment where Ivy can relax is what sets the stage for progress. (I'm getting to the $4 life hack, I promise.)
One of the most helpful changes I made was… window film. Except, it’s not really window film—it’s Elmer’s school glue that I painted on the glass! (Don’t worry, it peels off easily with hot water. šŸ’¦) Before our window cover, Ivy spent hours watching the street, barking at every dog or person who passed by. She couldn’t settle.
Now? She’s able to rest. And because she’s calmer, when something does set her off, she can actually access the training and coping skills we’ve been building together. 🐾
For dogs like Ivy, sometimes the smallest, simplest adjustments can make the biggest difference. What are the hacks that have helped your anxious/reactive/sensitive dog? šŸ•
