🌊 This year’s theme for World Ocean Day is ‘sustainable fishing means more’. 🌊 This highlights the importance of sustainable fishing practices, like eliminating ‘ghost gear’. Ghost gear is abandoned or lost fishing gear that becomes dangerous pieces of trash contributing to harm in the ocean.

By reducing problematic plastics in the ocean, helping entangled animals, participating in clean-up efforts and supporting sustainable fisheries, you can make a big difference!

The ocean and the animals who live there need our help.

💕 HIGH PAWS to AH, a compassionate and determined young girl, whom embarked on a heartfelt mission to support the BC SPCA by selling cookies to her classmates. She meticulously found the perfect recipe, created a shopping list, and baked the cookies herself. To raise awareness, AH produced a short video about the BC SPCA and designed eye-catching posters to advertise her sale. Her dedication and hard work paid off, as she successfully raised $125.35 and brought 3 very soft blankets for the animals!

Thank you AH. Your initiative not only showcased fantastic baking skills as well as your sincere commitment to helping animals in need. 🐾🍪

It’s BC Pet Registry’s 10-Year Anniversary! 🎉
We’re celebrating with stories like Coco’s — now we want to hear from YOU!

Has your pet’s microchip/tattoo helped bring them home? Share your reunion story via the link below and be part of our anniversary celebration. 🐾

When Coco, a 15-year-old teacup Yorkie, went missing near a busy street and river, her guardian feared the worst. Weighing just five pounds and struggling with poor eyesight and fading hearing, Coco was especially vulnerable to the dangers of traffic, wildlife, and the surrounding area. What followe...

🚨 A 126% Surge in Calls! 🚨
Last weekend, the BC SPCA saw a 126% increase in reports of dogs left in hot cars. This is a serious and preventable danger.

With temperatures rising across the province, the BC SPCA is urging the public to remember the serious risks associated with leaving pets in hot vehicles.

Even a few minutes in a hot car can be life-threatening for animals. Dogs don’t sweat to cool themselves down like humans do, which causes their body temperature to rise more rapidly. And every dog is different. Certain dogs, like senior pets, those with underlying health conditions and those with flatter faces, experience even more challenges in hot weather.

If you see an animal in a hot car showing signs of distress (exaggerated panting or no panting at all, salivating, an anxious or staring expression, muscle tremors or lack of coordination, convulsions, vomiting, collapse), call your local animal control agency, police department or RCMP, or the BC SPCA Animal Helpline at 1-855-622-7722 as soon as possible.

💡 Please don't risk it. If you can't take your dog with you, it's safer to leave them at home.

As we celebrate the final day of Lock-In for Love, our team at the Tri-Cities BC SPCA is incredibly grateful to this community. Our dedicated fundraisers are "locking-in" at the centre today while they make a final push to raise funds for the animals. We're so close to reaching our goal of $5000 for animals in Tri-Cities.

With the increasingly complex animal cases we're seeing, anything you can spare to help the animals in our care would mean so much. If you would like to send your compassion and love to the animals in our care here, please consider donating to our Centre team today: https://lockin.spca.bc.ca/team/1822/155/

Your kindness today can provide shelter, medical care and behavioural support for our most vulnerable furry guests. Thank you so much for all your love and support! 💗

🐾 A HUGE thank you to the amazing students and families of Queen of All Saints School. The school's SPCA Club spent the year learning all about animals. what the BC SPCA does, and a spectrum of animal-related topics. To showcase what they learned, they put on a very special Fair Day on May 1st for the entire school to attend.

We are incredibly grateful to these compassionate and hardworking students—and their wonderful teacher, Ms. Chavez—for raising an outstanding $2560 in support of the Tri-Cities BC SPCA and the animals in our care! Every dollar raised helps us provide shelter, medical care, and love to animals who need it the most. 🐶🐱🐰

A very special shout-out and thank you to the Grade 7 students who will be moving on after this year. They have been outstanding role models for the club and help to build so much excitement for the younger students who are eager to join the club in Grade 4.

Thank you all for being true champions for the animals! ❤

🦌A ‘fawn’-tastic ending
This fawn was brought to us after being hit by a car, and after several days in care healing from head and other internal trauma, this brave fawn was ready to go back to their mom.

Reuniting fawns is often difficult as mothers will only respond to their own babies and time is of the essence. Our expert team was ready for the task and quickly tracked down this fawn’s mother. At the right place and at the right time, the fawn immediately ran up to the doe, and our team was thrilled to witness this beautiful reunion. 💖

This fawn needed Wild ARC’s help to recover, but not all fawns that are left alone do! Learn how to tell when a fawn needs help:
