😮 1 in 4 pets had no active registration!
That’s what we found at PawsFest this summer—nearly 25% of microchipped pets we scanned had no working protection.

Aug. 15th was National Check the Chip Day, and it’s the perfect time to ask:
✅ Is your pet’s microchip registered?
✅ Is the information still current?

🙅‍♀️ Don’t rely on 'my pet is registered at the vet'—we won’t know to contact your vet. A microchip only works if it’s linked to a proper registry.
A microchip without registration is like an ID with no name. Let’s change that.

Crows looking a little rough around the edges lately?
Feathers don't last forever, and post-nesting season is a good, low-energy time for crows to start their annual moult!

During this time, feathers lose their usual glossiness and start to look dull and even brown/grey in colour. Over the next few weeks, they'll be working on growing a new and shiny feather coat. It might make them look a little scruffy for now, but it's completely normal.

If you're ever unsure if a bird needs help, here are signs to watch for: ⤵️

Happy Tails Update! 🐾💕
Tia was adopted just over a couple weeks ago from the BC SPCA Tri-Cities, and her new family says she’s fitting in purr-fectly! She and her new buddy Max (a 5-year-old ragdoll cross from New Zealand!) have become fast friends—playing, cuddling, and even napping together.
Tia’s loving energy, sweet trills, and constant chatter have completely won their hearts. Thank you to her wonderful adopters for giving Tia the happy home she deserves! 💖

🍎 When you feed wild animals, you may harm the animals you intend to help.

If you are enjoying outdoor spaces this season, make sure to clean up after yourself and never leave any food behind. Keep wild animals safe by never intentionally or unintentionally feeding them!

Wildlife feeding can result in:
- Habituated animals that are at risk of negative encounters with humans
- Poor nutritional outcomes
- Disease, and even death

It’s seal pup season! ☀️
July and August signal peak seal pup season with many beaches along the coast transforming into seal pup nurseries. This is a vulnerable time for the babies, and we can do our part to keep them safe by:
➡Giving them lots of space and never touching or feeding them
➡Keeping dogs on-leash and away
➡Calling Marine Mammal Rescue at 604-258-7325 if you think a seal pup might need help

We ‘pup’-preciate your help!
