Off-leash training is about much more than simply letting dogs run free.
When done thoughtfully and safely, it improves communication, builds trust, provides biological fulfillment, and can help reduce behavioural issues by creating more fulfilled and engaged dogs.
One of the biggest conflicts we have with our dogs is that we naturally move through the world very differently. Dogs move faster than we do, explore differently than we do, and often have a very different sense of what it means to still be “together.”
Reliable off-leash training allows dogs and humans to move through the environment more naturally while still maintaining safety, structure, and communication.
I recently wrote my first article on why I prioritize off-leash training early in the training process and how it can improve behaviour, relationship, and overall quality of life for both dogs and humans.
