Whistle recall practice.

And then, after just 2 recalls (several minutes apart we get this:

Sticking nice and close — reluctant to get too far away just in case the “magic, treat-dispensing whistle thing” happens again!

Eventually, they take off again. I let them run for a bit, then whistle a recall, making sure to mark and reward. Doing this “randomly” several time during our walks supercharges the whole experience — for all of us! They get to work their brains as well as have fun time, and we build our bond and connection with each successful recall-reward-release.
How can you NOT love that??!

Here we are with this week’s post

Another Thursday — another Happy Chappy walk!

Was actually a nice warm Spring-feeling day today, but still so wet and soggy on the trails that we decided to forgo trail walks and did our petshop visit instead.

And, of course — sniffiys and ”smiles”

Got to watch a big delivery truck leave today — first time seeing such a BIIIG “growwly monster” — but lil pupper handled it just fine; checking in with me and keeping nice and close while we watched it drive out of the parking lot in front of us.

So great to see this lil guy gaining in confidence and seeing the wide world as something to explore rather than fear!

THIS is what socializing REALLY is: exposure and positive experiences with new things, building up little bits at a time; not crazy free-for-all puppy plays in a dog park.
Give your pups time to build their confidence, and their trust/bond with you by experiencing all the world around them has to offer — one little thing at a time — and you build a strong, confident dog that is able to take it all in stride with time!

Got a little behind in my posts — oops!
So, this one is from last week:

Was a bit of a cool, breezy day, and even my lil Happy Chappy was a bit unsure about that ”arctic blast“ when we rounded the corner . . .

But, it was worth it for the Sniffy-safari and ”hellos” with the nice ladies at the pet shop!

And, of course, lots of sniffys along the way there and back home

Another sunny Thursday, another walk with my little Happy Chappy friend.

Was a chill and breezy day for our weekly romp, but I don’t think lil Happy Chappy minded having his ruff ruffled in the slightest.

Besides, despite the chill, the breeze did make the leaves dance and brought new and exciting scents and smells. He enjoyed a great little sniff safari adventure in the welcome sunshine.
