Two things to say about this photo. First off, training never stops even including the moment you get out of the shower. Second, this is the first time Petrie let me pick him up. It has taken months to earn this kind of trust with him. Not giving up and working with your dogs boundaries and pushing them ever so gently will always yield amazing results. I’m proud of this little guy!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Petrie. He’s doing well! He’s amalgamated into my home well with my other dogs. He doesn’t seem to mind the cats and is really starting to show who he really is. Behind every aggressive dog is fear. We combat fear with love, patience and good direction! I don’t think it will be long now before he’s ready to go up for adoption with Moe Dog Rescue Mission!

As of November 1 I’ll no longer be available for walks. I’m working full time at Dogvana here in Okotoks so please check them out. They are a great facility for dog boarding, daycare, training and grooming. For those of you I haven’t messaged I’ve got some options for some really great people who can continue working with your dogs so please shoot me a message and I’ll give you their contact info!

Our adoption fees barely cover the essential vetting each dog receives… and if even one pup needs an extra appointment, test, or medication, we’re already in the red. 💸

Let’s talk dog daycare. It’s important for your dog to regularly socialize with other dogs. This helps prevent future reactivity while maintaining good dog social skills. Even once a week is a benefit for your dog. Dog parks can help with this but the unregulated nature of who attends those parks leaves the quality of the interactions between your dogs and other dogs debatable. Dog day cares offer a supervised environment with other social dogs under professional supervision. If you are interested come see me at my new spot Dogvana Okotoks first day is free.
