Dogfather’s weekend with the Rivian R1T 🎉
Kevin has been talking about getting a Rivian, obsessing about how cool they are, for such a long time. I thought it would be really fun to rent one for his birthday! So we did. And naturally, we had to plan a trip with it.
I had a ton of messages expressing both interest and fascination with electric vehicles, so I wanted to share our experience, especially coming from adventurers!
1. Yes, we regret renting it as we probably won’t be able to afford for awhile 😂 especially because we did end up falling more in love with it.
2. A 100% charge took you about 250 miles. It took the fast charging station half an hour for 40% and that was about $45 in Oregon.
3. The gear tunnel is SO cool, on top of all of the other storage (the truck bed that has a cover that slides across electronically), the frunk, and the ample space inside. Kevin, of course, also brought his coffee setup and had the perfect spot for homemade coffee with the tunnel door.
4. Everything is electric so it took some getting used to: regenerative braking (not needing to press the brakes but rather slowly let off gas), finding the AC controls (you could change the direction of air flow)… you could even lift or lower the truck with the touch screen?! Also the windshield wiping fluid smelled like Listerine? Is that a thing??
5. The little details 🥺 the “adventure forever”, the glass roof, the fact that AC could be controlled in the rear for the pups—and that there’s a pet comfort feature so you can leave them while you grab food quick!
Have you thought about switching over to electric?
I have the RAV4 XLE Hybrid right now and I love it for adventures. I just can’t imagine doubling time on road trips because of the charging, but I guess you work that in?
Thanks to for the 6th slide & for the inspiration for a shoot!
