After much research and volunteering at a local shelter, we realized that there is a need for a pet food bank, just as there is for a human food bank. Some food banks will have access to pet food to include with the food they give their clients but it is not always available or in the amount that they made need to sustain their pets for a month. We have witnessed first hand how devastating it is
for the owner and pet when they are surrendered or worse. We know anyone can fall on hard times and often people have difficulty caring for their pet(s) through no fault of their own. Lay-off, change of income, job loss, illness or unexpected circumstances. We are not here to judge, we are here to help. Our main concern is to help families and their pet(s) stay together. Area shelters are being overwhelmed with beloved but abandoned or surrendered animals, all because a family cannot muster the pennies per day to keep them fed. Despite best efforts, their fate is dismal. The pain touches every single family, regardless of where they call home. And during these challenging times, that could be any one of us.
