Rollin with the homies. No need for so much talk! I often hear a lot of people repeating and repeating and repeating commands, and the dogs don’t pay attention. Remember that dogs typically communicate with body language. We are the ones that talk too much. Say it once and let them make the choices. Repeat if necessary but typically around 20 seconds later.

Beautiful misty foggy morning near the lake. Rest assured, my dogs are always put back on leash the moment we see other people in the distance. I have a strong aversion to dogs being off leash in residential areas near roads, parking lots (I see this often) a lot of the times I feel people who do this want to be challenged 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you’re in a forest, if you’re at a park, if you’re on a beach and no one is around and your dog has really good recall? I see nothing wrong with letting them play with a ball or explore but! the moment you see someone else ? especially if they have a dog on leash? you leash your dog. Saw a man blatantly walking through people with his dog off leash in a public area, using his ‘chuck it’ throwing the ball by people, etc…. I find this so incredibly disrespectful.

Had to share a picture of my dog, Mr. Muggin’s. He was an English springer spaniel. Had to be put down when I was 18. (Won’t say how long ago that was) but judging from the fact that the picture was taken with an old camera….. anyhow we had this dog when there wasn’t social media and there wasn’t a lot of research done on positive reinforcement training. Knowing what I know now I can safely say we didn’t train him properly 😂 he was an adventurous …I mean there were times when Muggin’s would roam around neighbourhoods at night time and come home at the end of his fun. I specifically remember one evening around 12 AM. I heard barking outside…. I went down, opened the front door, and there was muggins on our front lawn chilling with a husky and a German Shepherd. Just chilling. I said “mugs let’s go” all three of them looked at me and then looked at each other and then trotted right down the street. Mugs was back at our front door first thing in the morning. They don’t let dogs do that anymore. 🤷🏻‍♀️
