Today we went to the local fair with Fire, Ice and our temporary guest Yuki. The girls won a price in the claw machine 🥰🥰🥰

(We went really early at the opening of the carnival before it got to busy, so perfec socialization)

What a day yesterday 🥰 Decided to ask all my puppy owners to ask who would like to do a show. So very busy day with lot of dogs and owners who had never seen a show ring. Very proud on each of them!!

Ik ben Zoë Reekmans. Mijn liefde voor de border collie begon toen ik in een dierenasiel werkte als vrijwilliger. Ik werd helemaal verliefd op het ras. De werkwilligheid en de onvoorwaardelijke liefde.

Ik was 19 en ik ging op zoek naar mijn eerste border collie. Het moest en zou een eered reu met stamboom worden. Ik ging vastbesloten op zoek naar een goede fokker, maar toen werd Daeva afgestaan in het asiel. Ze was 4 maanden oud en had al 4 eigenaren gehad. Ik zag haar snoetje en was verkocht. Het werd dus geen eered reu met stamboom, maar het werd een zwart-wit teefje zonder stamboom.

Ik ging met Daeva naar de hondenschool om gehoorzaamheid te doen en zo begon het thuis bij mijn mama te kriebelen. Ze wilde ook een border. Mijn zoektocht startte weer naar een eered reu met stamboom. Dit keer slaagde ik er in meer van mijn wensen af te vinken. Na een tijdje kwam ik namelijk thuis met Kenai, een reu met stamboom, maar hij was chocolade kleurig.

Terwijl we beide in de gehoorzaamheid trainden ben ik met kenai de showwereld in gerold en ben ik erachter gekomen dat dat toch mijn favoriete tak van de hondensport is. Dit is ook de reden van het besluit dat er een 3e border collie ging komen.Ik ging op zoek naar een teefje dat uit volledig geteste ouders uit showlijnen kwam. Ik vond de combinatie waar ik van droomde, maar ze was helemaal in Hongerije. Na lang nadenken toch besloten er voor te gaan. Zo kwam Aelynn als recentste toevoeging van ons gezin er bij.

We wonen in Sint-truiden midden tussen de fruitplantages en eindeloze velden. Hier maken we zeer regelmatig lange wandelingen met de honden. Ook zijn we actief in gehoorzaamheid, flyball en show. Ik zou in de nabije toekomst graag gaan schapendrijven. Maar we zien wel wat de toekomst brengt!

I'm Zoë Reekmans. My love for the border collie started when I worked as a volunteer in an animal shelter. I fell in love with the breed. The willingness to work and the unconditional love.

I was 19 and I went looking for my first border collie. It had to be and would become an eered male with pedigree. I was determined to find a good breeder. But then Daeva was abandoned at the shelter. She was 4 months old and had already had 4 owners. I saw her face and was sold. So it wasn't an eered male with a pedigree, but it became a black and white female without a pedigree. But I have no regrets about this decision!

I went to the dog school with Daeva to do belgian obedience and so my mom saw us enjoying our work and wanted a Border Collie also. My search started again for an eered male with a pedigree. This time ticking off more of my wishes. After a while I came home with Kenai, a male with pedigree, but he was chocolate colored.

While we both trained in belgian obedience, I rolled into the show world with Kenai and found out that this is my favorite branch of the dog sport. This is also the reason for the decision that I wanted a 3rd border collie. I went looking for a black and white female who came from show lines from fully tested parents. I found the combination that I dreamed of, but she was far away in Hungary. After much thought, I decided to go for it. Aelynn became the most recent addition to our family.

We live in Sint-Truiden amidst fruit plantations and endless fields. Here we regularly take long walks with the dogs. We are also active in Belgian obedience, flyball and show. I would like to go sheep herding in the future. But we will see what the future holds!
