Lysimachia parvifolia (Samolus red) looks like a red baby spinach. While esteemed hobbyists have been growing this species for some time now, it is only recently propagated on a larger scale by commercial farms, making it more widely available to hobbyists everywhere. It grows at a very controlled height, and turns reliably red at higher PAR levels (around 150 umols of PAR for the ones in the picture below). It can also be grown in harder water.

It is a good replacement for Alternanthera reineckii as a mid/foreground red plant, and is easy to maintain long term - just cut off older leaves at the base and the plant can be farmed in the same spot indefinitely. It is one of the easier red plants to maintain long term in the hobby. Baby plantlets are produced at the base regularly, and should be periodically removed to prevent over-crowding.
