Three tiny kittens were found dumped in a bag in Dhanmondi, and another was rescued by Umai in Bashundhara. They were only days old and needed constant care. I couldn’t manage feedings every two to three hours, so we were desperately searching for a foster mom. Just when we thought hope was running out, Bilkis Apu reached out after seeing a Wiggy Paw post. Though she had no experience, she and her daughter loved kittens, and with some guidance, she was willing to try.

I rushed the four fragile kittens to her, and from the very beginning, her dedication was incredible. She watched videos on bottle-feeding, learned how to stimulate them, and poured herself into caring for them. Day and night, she fed them tirelessly—waking in the middle of the night, bringing them to her office so they wouldn’t miss a meal, and even cancelling plans to stay by their side. Her commitment was beyond words.

Today, those four little lives are thriving, happily eating solid food and winning hearts wherever they go. Bilkis Apu’s colleagues now share in their cuddles and feeding moments, feeling the joy of giving and receiving love from these once-voiceless angels.

Thank you, Bilkis Apu, for being an extraordinary “Hooman mom” to these kittens. The Wiggy team, and especially these four little souls, are so lucky to have you.

This Saturday, October 19th, 2024, we’re coming together to spread kindness and love by feeding the stray dogs and cats in our community. These animals often go unnoticed, but we believe every life matters and deserves care.

If you have some time and love to give, we’d love for you to volunteer with us! Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a big difference for these animals.

Recently, I found four kittens abandoned near the garbage, likely dumped by breeders because of their darker fur. One had already died in a car accident. After waiting all night for the mother cat and seeing no sign of her, I brought the remaining three in when it started to rain. I fed them milk replacer with a dropper and later realized they were mixed breeds—discarded because they weren’t "marketable."

These kittens were fostered with love, and when I posted them for adoption, I received an overwhelming response—mostly from people looking for aesthetics or breeding purposes. Thankfully, I found true cat lovers who adopted them for who they are, not because of their breed.

This experience made me realize how crucial it is to stop supporting the demand for exotic or mixed breeds. Even buying from "good" breeders fuels a cruel cycle—breeders force female cats into endless pregnancies, and pet shops treat animals like products, caged and mistreated. These innocent beings can’t speak up, so we must be their voice.

We need to stop the fascination with foreign breeds. Local cats are just as beautiful, loving, and full of life. I have two local cats, and they are every bit as special as any exotic breed. By choosing to adopt and rescue, we can help put an end to these unethical breeding practices.

Thanks to everyone who shared, donated, and sent kind wishes—your support made this possible. A special thanks to Sarah for her loving care and bottle-feeding these motherless kittens. Your compassion gave them a chance at a happy life!

This past Friday, the Wiggy team was able to feed many stray dogs, all thanks to your kind donation. We’re hoping to make this a regular effort, and with your continued support, we can reach even more hungry strays.

We are overjoyed to announce the completion of our murals, a vivid tribute to love, care, and animal rights. This wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support we received.

To the Mohakhali DOHS Council, thank you for trusting us with this space to spread a message so close to our hearts. To the artists—both young and seasoned—and to those who passed by and lent a helping hand, or brought us food and water while we worked, we are deeply grateful.

These murals, located at the Mohakhali DOHS lake, are more than just art; they are a reflection of a community coming together to express a shared belief—that animals deserve our care, our love, and our respect. This is their world too, and because of your kindness and support, we’ve made that message come to life in the most beautiful way. We invite everyone to visit and experience the beauty of this message firsthand.
